GIG PREVIEW: Heavy Scotland MIND 2017 First Heat
https://www.facebook.com/events/942001789264883/
So a Metal horde of great bands coming to wreak havoc on the fair city of Edinburgh this April! Heavy Scotland festival; with an epic selection of bands on the bill Including Behemoth, Arch Enemy, Finntroll, Destruction and so many, many, more! But, there one slot that is unfilled. And What is the best way to decide what band to make it the opening band In this monster festival? To have a BATTLE OF THE BANDS competition of course!
So to help out and give you metalheads a guide to what to expect to at this show; I've decided to have a mini competition of my own. 1 track has been sent in from each of the bands battling it out, and it's up to me to choose among them and try to predict who will win the night! Totally unscientific I know, but what the hell! eh?
So lets the competition begin!
Okay, so I have no idea who is going to play in what order I'm going go by on the flyer above!
Lucifers Corpus
This death 4-pack is playing on their home ground. With a sound that is deepfried in a doom and sludge flavored batter then given the smoked taste with a few mighty bong rips, these guys are certainly going to be the Heaviest band of the night that is bound to shake the very bones of the crowd.
*Only including the first track “burdened” of the EP in consideration for my prediction below bands.

Scumpulse
Blackened crusty motherfuckers are too from the same trashy streets of the host town. These guys combine the rasping vocals of the black metals forests with the punk bullish attitude and riffs of crust punk forefathers. With a buskers plateful of crowd participation moments, will help them make a mark and get thing moving frantically as one of the fastest bands of the night.

Damaj
Combining some old school and classic metal stanzas to mix with a thrash underbelly comes these Greenock’s finest metallers. Who come with some sizable punches and kicks of metal as well bringing an epic and longest single track to this makeshift arena of this article. Packed with a great sense of humor might score them some serious point with the crowd.

Corrupt the System
Metal spirit well maintained within and anarchistic frame of a logo and a swinging southern groove sound, packed with bloody fistsful of heavy rocking riffs! Coming in the from furthest away of all of the battle bands, I don’t think they want or will to come away empty handed!

That's not all folks, not to forget the HEADLINER OF THE NIGHT!

Now if none of the other bands get you into your moshing shoes, then these Irish thrashers will certainly will. Furious, frantic and fun thrash that know how to be heavy and have a bloody good drink too!

Prediction:
A heavy and varied metal night of merriment is bound to happen for this gig! The line up is such a unique mix that there will something for everyone here for all to have a great time.
The variation in styles of the talent made this is such a hard choice to pick the winner. but here goes.
4th Place: Corrupt The System - just missing out on the bronze, although a cracker of a track, there was just not quite enough meat for me to bite into.
3rd Place: Lucifers Corpus - these gloomsters might be mighty heavy but they might struggle to pull everyone on board to their extreme sound!
2nd Place: Damaj - probably the closest sounding band to the headliners with their spirit right in the thrash whirlpool, they will be one to watch and get stuck right into on the night.
1ST - Scumpulse - after a tough decision I went with these guys for the gold. They have the catchiest tune, while providing the most fury and the best attitude to do well with the crowd.
Congratulations to the victors and all the best to all the bands taking part! (i hope the be proven wrong on who wins!)
So everyone get yer moshing arse down to this gig and prove to all that Metal Is Not Dead!
