I had a funny realization today while talkiing about Naruto with @steampoweredstrawberry. If you think of the show as a dungeons and dragons campaign a lot of things start to make sense.

The constant exposition dumps and long winded explanations of abilities: the players explaining their skills to the DM

The Uchiha family as a whole is played by one person who realized that the DM wasn't paying attention to his character sheets and just kept pushing the envelope.

Fights take so long because the group is a large one so turns take forever

All the abilities are broken because every player is running a homebrew and the DM doesn't balance things.

The ultimate villain keeps changing because the players want to continue the campaign
