Summary: Things just lined up. Tyler's guild was shut down for safety violations, and they were without work. Their sister, Katie called one too many times with an offer: a job, monsters to slay, and a place to park their trailer. The only trouble was Tyler would have to move to that farm that housed nothing but sour memories. When Tyler makes an unlikely ally, they must learn that softness is not weakness, and that love is not earned, but made.

"What makes you think that?" Marlon asked as he wrestled the door closed, sliding the lock into place for good measure.

"Aside from your grand entrance?" Gil replied, wincing with pain as he stood and crossed the room. "Hmm…" he took Marlon's bag from him and walked toward the stairs leading to the small apartment they shared above the shop. "Maybe the fact that you weren't supposed to come back until tomorrow night."

what do marlon and gil have going on together ?? they don't open until 2 and gil naps all day in his rocking chair. perhaps marlon is a caregiver to gil because he can't stay awake for very long. e.g. he helps him walk and move around or get him dressed and fed. 60+ years of defending could have definitely taken a toll on him.
