I have finally finished scheduling the entire year ahead with the Online classes I’ve been doing these last couple of years. Online has allowed me to work with over 600 students now from 24 different countries. The continued interested in this artform always amazes me as its been with us for over three thousand years.

I will also be teaching a few classes in New York throughout 2023 and heading there next month at the end of October. There are a few seats left for Traditional Water Gilding, Verre Églomisé/ Glass Gilding, and Gilding for Works of Art.

Another view of this 23kt water gilded period frame profile. For those starting out, water gilding is comprised of gilder's gesso and clay bole which is prepared with either rabbit skin glue or gelatin. All the recipes are quite exact to ensure proper bonding without developing crack mechanisms, at least not within the immediate decades (!). Water reactivates the glue in the bole which also wraps the gold leaf around the surface by capillary action. Another view of the Hare Krishna Altar I gilded for the Vedic Cultural Center in Sammamish, WA near Seattle. Took some months to do this since it was 'parcel' gilded. During festivities the altar is covered in flowers and fruits. A very welcoming community and a joyful project gilding while listening to the chants and sounds of tablas and bells.
