Idea I had for the flag of Camp Hidden Valley - a scout camp in Gilmanton Iron Works, NH. Symbolism in comments.
from /r/vexillology Top comment: The main charge is intended to be the head of a bald eagle (from the logo of the camp). Below it is the fleur de lis used in the emblem of Scouts BSA. The colors are also from the camp's logo.
A bulbous, yellow-striped tapir paces upon the doorstep of Chillingford Mansion in Gilmanton, New Hampshire, which was at the time the residence of the town’s perennially dying mayor, Wulliam Swisher-Sweets.
Known in most western cultures as a reliable portent of sickness and death - unlike crows, owls and ravens, which are notoriously hit and miss in their predictions - the striped tapir is always an unwelcome visitor within its range.
So unwelcome in fact, that it has become a custom in the New England states to flip your welcome mat if you should see one approaching from down the street, either that or remove the mat entirely. This has never worked, but I would never attempt to dissuade you from trying it.
FUN FACT: As a very curious, immortal baby, Baby Gruenwald has this and a large number of similar postcards in his collection.
