Do you have any original(ish) art project in the making? I absolutely love your style (both visual& writing), but i understand if you simply dont have the time and/or inspiration (boy do i understand ahah) Tbh i read the original 19days comic just to understand your fandom content so i dont care about that, but i cant tell if youre taking a break from fandom or just publishing art on tumblr all together. Either way let us know if you ever get like a book out there id definitely want to get one

Yes, kind of: I’m working on stuff for a portfolio, as I was let go of my former job when corona times started to hit hard. (I wasn’t very happy with the workplace, tho, nor did I feel like it was an option for my future.) So after a time of being absolutely drained (and probs doing a lot of fanart stuff for therapeutical reasons 😂), I’m free now and have to find my way - and as much fun as I do have with creating fanart - it’s of course not getting me anywhere career-wise. So, “fun” times are over, I have to work hard on my own things now if I wanna earn money with what I like to do ( and also finding what I’d actually like to do, not that easy). 

As to, if I wanna post more original art then on Tumblr - I don’t know. I mostly don’t have the urge to post my original stuff here, it always feels rather out of place and like putting sth out into the void tbh- but I’m very happy you are interested in it! 

I will let you know if I ever get sth out!

Working Process: Comic

For everyone who has ever wondered how those comic strips of mine come to be.. This is a storyboard (the sketch-stadium of a comic) of one qiucheng strip I scribbled after the 19 days picnic arc mudslide disaster chapter but have not realized into a comic (and probably never will). So it’s at least useful for showing a bit of my work process, I figured (this one’s a messy example, tho). 

For story ideas with more dialogue I normally start off with a script. I left it out here, because it contains barely any words - but for better understanding, here’s an accompanying script, like I usually do it:

P stands for page, p stands for panel.

p1: Qiu sitting in the car, open door, messing with phone

p2: Close-Up of Q’s head (smiling slightly, while looking at phone)

p3 and p4: Close-Ups of silly snap-shot pictures of the dog (Q is flicking through the phone’s photo gallery with his thumb)

p5: Close-Up thumb, swishing movement to next pic (blurred, movement focus)

p1: Detail Close-Up. Q’s thumb pausing on picture, panel shows only excerpt of dog held in arm of person with expensive coat and wrist watch.

p2: Close-Up on Q’s face. Q: ....

p3: Close-Up on phone pic, panning in on face of person who holds dog - it’s He Cheng - the dogs puppy eyes stand in contrast to his seemingly accusing glare (resting b*tch face)

p4: pan out on Q. Q: ... (he’s looking down at the phone, pondering)

p2: Close-Up App. chat window with HC. Q’s typed out a text message: “the dog would love it here.”

p4: Cracking sound from outside (thunderstorm). Panning in on Q’s eyes, looking alarmed in direction of noise.

p1: Zoomed out: forest and mountain range, a big thundercloud on the sky, thunder rolling with a “boom”. Q got out of car and stares at sky, backview.

p2: Pan in on Q looking up at sky, frontal. Q: .................... Why do I feel like this thundercloud is coming personally for me? (nervously)

Now here’s what the first draft of the storyboard looks like on the right of the page (Din5 notebook, 5 square mm checkered) On the upper left side I sketched some of the phone pic panels in bigger scale. During the process, I rearranged some panels, then drew tiny layout sketches with the final order on the corner left downside.

....wow, it’s fking crazy how dumblr will shadowban certain posts from the tag search because they contain words like “g*ag” (as in “joke”, but they probably are after the “ch*oke” meaning of it.... also I altered words like b*lood, sta*bwou*nd....can’t one tell a fking story in peace.....anyway...delete later. Just so you know, they have a problem with the word b*tch too.

Just want to inform you that my latest 19 days fancomic got flagged bc of adult content *qiucheng👀*( was kind of fighting a losing battle with that one, anyway😅), so now, the post is only visible to me. Thanks for all your lovely comments ;-) I’ll try and slap some censorship on it and then we’ll see if it get’s deflagged after the revision...it won’t be the same, tho, I think those who got to read it before know what I mean.

Hey guys! Those are strange times.. and I’ve got a little survey for you👀!

First…

I have roughly at least six 19 Days fancomic storyboards ready to be realized and probs twice more drafts… 3 of them are on my shortlist. Now I want your opinion, which one would you like to see?

 1.       Blown Cover: a good measure of nsfw and humor.

First sentence:  Jian Yi: “You look like you’re in the middle of a blow job”

2.       Tabula Rasa: One hefty meal of angst.

First sentence:  Mr. He: “..So, Tian, I’ve heard you have grown quite fond of a redhead lately”

3.       Dog Days: Something bittersweet.

First sentence:  Qiu: “Alright, stay home and sleep for a bit if you’re not feeling well..I’ll go visit the grave alone.”

 Secondly…

I will lose my job soon and want to check my options… would you guys be interested in a Patreon, where to see my drafts and storyboards, get background infos abt the story/scripts and the possibility to poll/ promt for topics of the next comic -  or  would you (rather) be interested in commissioning me (other fandoms and ocs possible)?

Regarding my latest 19 days fancomic that was too long for tumblr to publish in one post: It seems like people didn’t entirely get that those two parts are meant to be one comic-strip ( I even had difficulty deciding at which point to split it in half so the fluidity of the story/reading wouldn’t suffer too much ). Also, my posts might have been buried under the huge flood of posts following that bomb of a chapter release from OX ;-) So here’s a little overview  with links to my latest comic-strip (I might add more, as I really had fun with that timeline/setting and am still full of ideas to continue it):
