It think i may have discovered the gin in which i would be happy to drown in! @winchester_distillery Winter Wassail, a limited run gin distilled with festive spices and apples! Any drink that can involve apples somehow is a winner so to discover a gin made with apples i couldn't resist! This gin is doubly special because i am a Hampshire lass by birth and i currently reside on the Isle of Apples aka Isle of Avalon. Wassailing took place last weekend and hairy men, and women in floaty dresses descended on the orchards at the bottom of the Tor to pour mulled cider around the roots of the trees and incite incantations that will assure a bountiful harvest of apples. As with all folk traditions its a chance to be seen, sing and get drunk all in the name of tradition. Glastonbury runs on these traditions, you really can't move for something folky happening. One minute we are singing at trees, the next dancing with dragons, then we are watching the green men fight for the may queen then blessing the winter sun, there is llamas, beltane, samhaim, soltice, equinox, wassail, to name a few. Its a busy calendar and we have all developed a strong constitution when ot comes to 'traditional' drinking. Anyway back to the gin; this is a beautiful drink i paired it with @fevertree_uk light tonic, slices of crisp apple and a sprinkle of dried cranberries. It feels like you are drinking a pudding with a lovely after taste of mulled cider. A perfect winter gin and one that would be great in hot apple juice too as a spicy, medicinal warming drink. I also think it would be good with elderflower tonic i will report back at some point! #ginuary #gin #thatsmygin #gindrinker #ginlover #gincollector #gincollection #winchesterdistillery #wassail #apples #ginandtonictime #ginandtonic #gintonica #ginandjuice #ginblog
