Thinking about Gingalain's costume...

I want it to be reasonably authentic-looking, and I think that means I'll have to figure out some tricks to reduce bulk. And also, a way to suggest chainmail while making sure it's light enough.

My Gingalain is a Dollmore Theo, sculpted by my favourite doll artist: Gu Mi-Jung (Mydolling). I'm so nervous about doing this doll justice that I have been procrastinating over his costume for aaaaaaaages 😭.

(I think his face-up is one of the best I've ever done; I'm still proud of it.)

I always hated the retellings where Gingalain is written to be the son of a woman that isn't either Blanchemal or Florie, or at least a woman who raises him with no knowledge of his true name or lineage until he achieves knighthood, because it sorta takes away the mysticism of Gingalain's character. If I'm not mistaken, Renaut de Beaujeu's Le Bel Inconnu is the direct origin of (or had popularized) the "Fair Unknown" archetype. It become so common that it was later adapted into the origins of Perceval, Lancelot, and even Ginglain's own DAD in De Ortu Waluuanii. Having Gawain already know his son since birth kind of negates any significance to Le Bel Inconnu, and in my personal opinion, is kind of an insult to Sir Giggles himself.
