Washed about half-a-fistful of ginger root and a promixal phalanx-sized piece of turmeric with cold water, then minced them down into thin triangular bits.
Brought the ginger and turmeric to a boil in about 1.2 liters of water.
Added two dashes of black pepper with the grinding mill, a sprinkle of cinnamon, a dribble of lemon juice, and a scoop of cane sugar.
Stirred gently on medium heat for a period I would probably consider 5 minutes, before turning off the heat and letting it sit for a bit, then pouring it through a strainer and into my teapot.
Drank half-a-mug of it hot tonight, it distracts well from both physical and spiritual coldness that seeps into aching joints on an empty night.
Poured the rest over ice cubes in a mason jar so I can put it in the fridge. Will drink the chilled version in the smothering heat of the summer afternoon.
