Summary: Rose is the person Leia has placed in charge of staying in touch and receiving the intel provided by the spy in the First Order. Over time, they end up becoming friends and, when they decide to meet in person, she ends up meeting the person she least expected.
On her way to a family reunion, Skywalker Airlines First Officer Rose Tico has a problem.
She is the only member of her family not in a committed relationship.
Combine that fact with her aunt, her grand-aunts, and the bane of her existence, her cousin Clarisse, asking, in varying degrees of kindness (or in some cases, the lack thereof) why she is dreadfully single, she is not looking forward to the reunion.
But one act of kindness (or insanity) from fellow Skywalker Airlines employee, Purser Armitage Hux, changes everything.

But her question died in her throat. Outside, Armitage Hux had been covered in snow gear and shrouded in darkness, not to mention made even blurrier by her own hazy state. Now in the warm lights of the house, he shrugged the coat from his shoulders and Rose saw the play of lean muscle under his sweater, a bead of sweat traveling down his chiseled, perfectly scruffy chin, and a wave of pale red hair sweeping from his brow.

Hux groaned loudly. He lay in an undignified position on his back in the wet sand and blinked in the blinding sun. Every bone in his body hurt, he was soaked through, and his Resistance issued shirt was ripped up. Splendid. Just splendid.
Next to him, laughing, Rose Tico tried to get up from her lying position. With an effort he turned his head to give her a questioning look. Had she finally lost her mind? Did she hurt her head when they crashed in the water? Not that he was worried about her. Definitely not.
"It worked Hux! Shortly before everything went to shit, it worked! You're a genius! Now we just have to wait for the Resistance to come pick us up." She smiled brightly at him. Despite her injuries, it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.
Splendid. Just really fucking splendid.
Day two of GingerRose Week 2020 - the topic is “Fighter/Survivor”.
“Ah, is that it? Did you think I was some romantic hero, a poor, misguided soul trapped on the other side who could be guided to the light with just the right words and affection?” Hux spits.
A dangerous thought enters Rose’s mind. Why shouldn’t she be the one to take what she needs, for once?
