Heavy Rains from Ida
You would think that living in central Pennsylvania that I wouldn’t have to worry about any type of hurricane. If there’s an aftermath, it is normally rain with a bit of flooding. Hurricane Ida has made us all on edge and extremely anxious. For past 2 hours, we’ve been following the Wilmore Dam that is up the street from where I currently live. Now, I am safe. If it were to break, it would be heading in the opposite direction of my place of residence. It doesn’t make it less scary though. I have family who lives below that dam. I have friends who live in the path of that dam. I’m anxious, afraid and not going to know what to do. I’ve been told that I should get dressed and head to the grocery store. We don’t know if we’ll be able to get food if it decides to break and flood. Here’s a picture of the dam from 2 hours ago:
Yeah, that’s the dam nearest to me. I never thought, in my wildest dreams, that this would be something I have to worry about at the moment. I wanted to update on here to get my worries out as well as my nerves shimmered to a low rather than at the high they’re on at the moment. But to be clear, I am okay. I will be safe. I live on the opposite path of the dam if it were to break. But, it’s still worrisome to me, because it could block off major roadways if it were flood. Please keep my family in your thoughts though. This is a scary time.

Finally finished this off my backlog as well!!!
So after years of knowing one another I asked gin if she’d like me to make her a sona so I did. she’s a husky! so I drew this nice lil ref for her (complete with Amsy the raptor)
I actually drew it originally on my laptop but did the lines and color on my ipad! I’m very happy and I’m so mad i didn’t just download clip eons ago it’s much easier on me to work with. like i know i’ve rambled in tags but this really makes me happy to be able to use like. to make things on par to my laptop work is a big relief because I can work even on my bad health days (and yes I know. I should/can rest. but my bad health is so frequent that just drawing makes me feel a bit better. so this is a good thing)

A hello/good-bye kiss that is given without thinking - where neither person thinks twice about it. Davon and Hekabe. (No number because I had this copied, but have fun with it)
“I don’t want to go to work....” the hatter grumbled as he got up from bed. He sighed as he ran a hand through his hair and looked at the clock and fell back with a thud. He stared at the ceiling and gave a heavy sigh. He forced himself up and made way to the bathroom. he heard the sound of the door opening downstairs and moved to head down.

Hekabe yawned as she tried to shut the door quietly, moving to remove her shoes. She wanted nothing more than to take her scrubs off and curl up in bed. As she headed to the stairs she paused when she felt a gentle kiss on her lips.
She looked up to see Davon smiling and yawned.
“Good morning.” she grinned as he gave a sharp toothed smirk.
“Good Morning.” he repeated with a yawn of his own, “bed’s still warm.” he chuckled.
“Oh goodie.” she gave a quiet laugh, “you off to work?”
“After a shower and coffee. Always coffee. So much.” he jested as she gave his cheek a kiss as she walked past him on the stairs.
“Then I’ll see you this afternoon.”
“Indeed you will. Sleep well, Love.” he smiled as she headed back up the stairs and into the bedroom.
I'm going to expand on a wrong given ask. 1, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, 18, 25 for Davon.
1: their voice
Davon is known for a false british accent; some don’t know he fakes it however when he’s tired or at home he just doesn’t bother. His voice isn’t super low but it’s a tenor range of voice and tends to crack when he attempts to speak in higher pitches. his voice is one of those you want to have read to you over and over, it’s smooth and easy to understand because he enunciates his words with precision (due to his role as a mad hatter in wonderland) he almost has a flirty lit to his tone.
6: how they deal with grief
Poorly. Davon has lost his father, mother, nearly his sister and we don’t TALK ABOUT ALICE.
When he has to deal with grief he normally just. bottles it up. pretends it’s fine. but his voice will crack when he speaks, his eyes are hazy and he’s not fully there. Davon hasn’t cried since his mother’s death and you can tell in the upright stiff way he carries himself that he tries to not allow himself to grieve.
7: how they like to dress
Formal or Semi formal. Davon doesn’t dress down unless something is broken and he has to fix it. he’s always sporting button ups, ties, vests, neatly ironed slacks and loafers. In winter he wears an olive peacoat and in wonderland the man is always smoothing his vest and tie.
9: their theme
Contradiction; a mad hatter who loathes tea and adores coffee. a man so prim and proper but swears under his breath every five seconds, a calm collected appearance but a frantic mind beneath

11: their family life

But as a kid? well it was pretty normal until his dad died. then his mother remarried a reaper who hated him. his mother got sick and he was left with Deca and Octavio but he wasn’t happy. he spent a lot of time in wonderland trying to raise deca while he was only like 11ish
then alice and he lost some years of his memory. Davon spent most his life attempting to raise his little sister. he actually has a hard time forming interpersonal relations because he has no idea how to due to having to deal with her needs and his own while playing the mad hatter and going to school. the boy had a lot going on. this lead to his persona of trying to come off as collected. if he appears calm then people will leave him alone to work through things.
12: their romantic life
Davon has had one proper relation before hekabe and that was alice however his demon parasite over powered him and he murdered her and lost his memory of the event. in HS and first year of college he did occasionally date since he is an attractive young man however it just never last more than a few months. Hekabe is his longest relationship to date and he feels most at ease with her.

I think with davon’s a matter of how long ive had him plus the fact he’s a character that led to one of if not my longest to date friendship! he’s a fun guy to mess with and his whole im a hatter who hates tea is still funny to me years later

4: their insecurities
Maddie is very nervous about if he made the right choice in career, He’s terrfied of someone finding out about wonderland he thinks he’s a shitty boyfriend because of how much he frets and he won’t let it show he’s terrified of being a bad dad.
He’s also super insecure about his hair color and pointed ears. He hates getting called fairy boy (but... he is a changeling so)
11: their family life
Maddie is an orphan who aged out of the system, it’s kinda why he’s so nervous about adopting Mari and having a life with Salem because he really isn’t sure what’s considered a normal family life. He’s just. doing what he wished he had.
12: their romantic life
Maddie has had 4 girlfriends and one boyfriend before he met Salem and actually had just broken up with his girlfriend. He dated a bit in HS and had 2 SOs while he was in college but it never worked due to his workaholic tendencies and his mad hatter status
18: how they sleep
before dating salem and adopting mari he actually slept nude for the most part but he’ll sleep in boxes on top of the sheets after they move in
He’s a big tosser and always winds up at the foot of the bed for some reason
22: what they’re like on two hours of sleep
He’s the mad hatter for the reason; he gets a little unhinged and giggly and tends to be overly sarcastic without tact
24: what motivates them
A feeling of fulfillment. It’s one reason he’s a nurse. Because he was bounced around so much until he aged out he just wants stability. Being the mad hatter has brought a lot enjoyment for him as well because he’s able to just do his weird ticks without being judged for them
25: why you enjoy them
Maddie is funny because he’s just a pretty average guy but he just has some really weird circumstances around him, like he was taken to the fae world when he was 2 and then thrown back to the human world but years later and got thrown into the system and dealing with just never feeling right then he got into physics to mess with things and wound up not finding fun so he went to nursing and then he jsut was stacking tea pots and now hes a mad hatter who can travel with wonderland doors and then he meets salem and mari

he does not! he thinks it’s a rather comically stupid concept that will only lead to heart break if you never met the “perfect” person. he thinks you need to just meet people and then you will find your happiness that way.

Most likely the fact he’s a mad hatter. most people in the upper world think he’s just a weird theater kid. the other is probs the fact he’s secretly rip af to deal with the bullshit the march hare throws at him.
or the elf thing. no one knows he’s half elf.
How would a close friend they've known for a long time describe them?
Self sufficient, overbearing, self sacrificing to a fault, hardworking, dependable, secretive, loyal to a fault, incredibly negative while using a positive tone but only ever herself, cynical
Is there something they secretly wish they could do but are too afraid to?
Let herself be a kid properly, let her guard down. Deca has a lot to shoulder being a grim reaper and trying to maintain her life and she puts a heavy act on to make sure she’s not forgotten since she knows someday she’ll outlive all those she loves.
