Episode Title: Yesterday's Enemy, After All Is Said And Done, Is Still The Enemy
MY 20 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 77 (manga chaps 112, 113 and 114):
So much OkiKagu goodness...I swoon from the abundance of cuteness....
1) The little kitty was just such a perfect touch.
2) How adorable was Okita, imitating Hijikata??
3) Sweet Shinpachi sloppy crying as he talked about how much he loved Tae-chan.
4) My eyes well up with tears EVERY SINGLE TIME I get to this scene! Love this family so much...the whole extended bunch of them.
5) Loved how Kondou was trying to slip in a bro-in-law honorific...even though Shinpachi was having none of it.
6) These goofballs reminded me of our Joui goofballs...except our Joui boys are much better looking.
7) Best horrible joke ever...
8) ...which naturally deserved the best and most reasonable response ever.
9) Hijikata and Kagura’s one-two punch at Sougo. I especially loved Kagura’s gleeful expression while she chanted his murder.
10) Bless the anime team for adding in this precious reaction shot (and having my two OTPs stand next to each other...technically all three of my main OTPs are represented since Kondou and Pachi-kun are future bro-in-laws).
11) I love Kondou but he can be such a big idiot sometimes. No one with two brain cells to rub together would put that plate on their team leader in such an obvious and vulnerable spot.
12) I love Kagura but she can be such a big CUTIE ALL THE DAMN TIME.
13) I debated for a few minutes even including this, since it is most definitely NOT a favorite moment, but it was so memorably disgusting, I had to honor it somehow. Vomit.
14) Sougo straight up laying claim to Kagura.
15) THE PRINCE.
16) I love this scene so much, I think I devoted my life to OkiKagu because of it.

18) First time I saw this, I am positive I screamed “NOOOO HIS FACE!!!!”.
19) Again, more screaming about Sougo’s beautiful face being ruined. Kagura’s brutal. But that’s why she’s THE QUEEN.
20) I didn’t properly pay tribute to the BEAUTIFUL new ending credits for this arc last night because I’m obviously brain damaged so I thought I’d make up for it tonight. Lots of nekkidness but these were of course my favorite.
SHIPS TALLY:
Okita x Kagura: might as well title this episode OkiKagu Maximum.
Gintoki x Hijikata: Gin-chan entrusted Toshi with his precious plate! How freaking sweet was that????
Kondou x Otae: naturally since Kondou was totally there to get back his gal (who doesn’t want him...yet).
Shinpachi x Otae: even he acknowledges his own siscon-ness so who am I to ignore it?
Gintoki x Okita: wonder what they did when they went off together.
Gintoki x Kagura: she was very concerned about Gin-chan.
Hijikata x Okita: Sougo’s faith in Hijikata’s victory was touching.
Kyuubei x Otae: they didn’t have any scenes together but since Tae-chan was basically learning to be a proper Yagyuu clan wife, they were technically one step away from being canon.
Disclaimer: Gintama is not only about shipping. Gintama is hilarious, clever, exciting, poignant, heart-breaking, loving, brilliant, and just completely unbelievably amazing. It is only due to Sorachi-sama’s immense generosity that I am able enjoy Gintama on an extra another level, the shippy level, and I am forever grateful for that. GINTAMA IS LIFE AND LOVE.
