Gizz post-Ice Death ranking (and why!)
1. Ice Death
Gave us Iron Lung, Magma, and all the live versions of these songs. Chicago '23 having the most killer Magma ever. Heavy psyche jam era. Would inject into my veins if I could.
2. Petro
Proggy, cinematic, conceptual. Gave us Dragon, which I have seen live 3 or 4 times now and every time I loose my fucking mind. THE EYE DILATES--!
3. Phantom
Every listen the songs grow on me more. Melancholy looks very good on gizz, which I did not expect. The bittersweet is an acquired taste, and as an adult, I've acquired it. Also gave us the absolute bop that is Panpsyche.
4. Silver Chord
Surprisingly, I've come back to this again and again. It's just so good for commuting to, or accomplishing tasks to. But even better, to dance to (Set). Chang'e also lives in my heart.
5. Changes
Played this during my MRI last year. It was a great choice. Such a solid album. Pretty to listen to, thoughtful, has it's own unique bops (Gondii) and a nice Amby slow rap. It's masterful in it's simplicity. Like mac and cheese, it's a comfort classic.
6. Laminated Denim
Such a trip, awesome lyrics. Personal memories attached here.
7. Flight b741
Very fun. Lowest on the list only because I skip Antartica and Daily Blues. It's a full on vibe, a vibe articulated very well, but one I'm not always in the mood for. Field of Vision rocks, especially live. Sad Pilot? I'm actually crying. It's a great album.
