Imagine you are the only daughter of a single father that has an insane plan for your entire life laid out from practically the moment you are born; then, he 'dies' and leaves you behind without ever having actually discussed said plan with you or anyone around you while simultaneously continuing to work on said plan from prison while you grow up extremely lonely, isolated from other children and afraid of being abandoned.

Then, imagine that years later, your father's plans that de-personify you and outright put you and your entire culture in danger start moving forward, and you think you've been making your own choices about your future and the future of your people, but it turns out that the invisible hand of your father is still determining your life path. Simultaneously, what if all of the men in your life kept withholding information from you and telling you what you can and can't do and who you are and what you should care about and have zero boundaries with you despite them all being full-grown adults. Oh, and also all of these men rely on you completely and endlessly to take care of them and guide them around while you are literally a tween.

This all happened to my girl, Asirpa, btw.

Top 5 dc romances? Comics only or all media whichever you prefer

Full disclosure: I actually never read comics. Yeah, like all my knowledge about DC stuff is either second hand from trusted friends who have read them or from other DC media. This being said, I actually don't think I find DC to be the place where great romances tailored to my taste lie in waiting. Like, for example, Lois/Clark is IconicTM and I am sure there is some material out there that would really sell the romance to me. But from what I have seen (from Smallville, various Superman movies) they do nothing for me as a concept. I actually complained once about the fact that DC should give their younger generation of heroes some Grand Romances bc the older ones bore me.

Anyway, now let's actually answer the question:

Turner/Duela (Gotham Knights)- Doeyes, my beloved! If there is one thing I can appreciate about the show's cancellation is that it kept the ship perfectly untainted, with s1 canonizing it as Thee Romance for me. Although I doubt it would have been easy to ~hurt this ship even if someone tried (some ships are more ressilient than other and Doeyes has all the igridients to be long lasting.

Dick/Zatanna (Young Justice) - They have so so little material, but what we have is perfect. After s4, I am actually even somewhat hopeful the writers might give the ship another chance.

Bruce/Selina (any Batman live action movie) - I think this is one of the only ships on this list that I would also like in comics. Or at least in some of them. But my appreciation for Bruce/Selina comes from movies. The three iterations I am thinking of (Keaton/Pfeiffer, Bale/Hataway and Pattison/Kravitz) are all wildly different from each other, but I love them all the same. One day I am gonna watch Gotham and fall for Baby Batcat.

Harper/Stephanie (Gotham Knights) - As you can see I really appreciate GK's take on romance LOL. Anyway, they are cute, narratively potent and have great interactions.

Mera/Arthur (DC live action Aquaman's movies and Young Justice) - It was hard to find a couple for this spot because I wanted to keep it to canon couples from media I have actually consumed. Anyway, I found Mera/Arthur super cute in both Momoa's movie and what we have seen of them in Young Justice (where Arthur manipulated a prophecy to give Mera the shiniest crown! truly a Wife GuyTM).

Honorable mentions: Supermartian (if YJ only had s1 they would be top 3), Jason/Mia (not a canon romance but I blame @laufire for my interest in them), Cass/Steph (I blame YOU for this one xD) and Zari/Constantine (it's been so long since I watched Legends of Tomorrow but they were the cutest).

Thinking a lot about the level of intimacy in the types of violence that each character in GK enacts against others and how telling it is of who they are as characters <3

GK Chapt. 113 lives so rent-free in my mind. Somehow, it manages to be the most insane chapter of an arc all about a literal animal rapist.

The mental wars I'm fighting every time I look at the main GK tag because As1rpa and Og4ta are my favorite characters.

As1rpa is chronically somehow under-discussed and over-simplified despite being one of the two main characters, and sometimes I see Og4ta posts that I so fundamentally disagree with that I just blackout and have to close the app.
