I’m officially a makeup artist!
I took a class at GlamLab if anyone is interested in getting into the makeup industry. I took a class in Sausalito, California today.
If you deiced to take a class, be aware that they probably will do a lot of things differently than you do. And by that, I mean mainly the face and secret tricks you should know. If you’re new to this, of course it’s all going to be new, but since I’ve worn makeup and have applied it to other people, I know a bit about the color correcting and things in that category. But of course you will always learn new things with everything that you do. Especially with makeup. There’s always new trends and new ways to applying anything!
The stuff they do is things I’ve never seen others do. And I’m not meaning this in a bad way at all. Our in structure was very cool and hands on, and is VERY good at what she does! Especially since she’s done celebrities and runways.
The only issues I had in the class was the fact that I was in a group of 3. So myself and 2 of my friends. So since that happened, it was difficult matching each other’s eyes and contour. We all have different taste in makeup and different ways of how we put on our makeup, so that was a bit tough for me.
I’ve learned a lot from other makeup artist such as, PATRICKSTARRR, MannyMUA, Chrisspy, Desi Perkins, and Amrezy. I know there’s more, but those are my main ones I like to watch on YouTube. Especially Patrick, Manny, and Chrisspy. They really break it down on how to blend correctly.
Which for me, was an issue in the class. Because I was basing it off of the things I’ve learned from them. Some people are beginners and don’t know about transitioning shades and good blending techniques, or don’t know about going in light and building up color to fade into each other. So it was hard dealing with that for me since one person did one side of the face and I did the other.
I just thought I’d give brief paragraphs about the class and my personal experience.
I know I could’ve done A LOT BETTER, but considering my group situation, it was much more difficult on all of us.
So I’d say to definitely get partnered up with only ONE person!
So if you’re interested check out GlamLab! They travel to 6 different states! :)
