I just finished "Gutters" by glassamilk.
I feel so dead so numb I didn't even enjoyed my morning coffee as every usual day (that shit good af) it was so plain and tasteless today, tell me ¿How many books can make you feel like that? ¿How many writers can do that? ¿How many writers can create a character so relatable and human that you might fall apart if something bad happens to them? ¿How many? I assure you that there's just a few and ironically they're unknown.
Generally my emotions are very neutral but when I read works of people like George Devalier or glassamilk they burst, burst with such intensity fully taking control of my body leaving me breathless and overwhelmed; It's amazing. How a person can manage to make people feel so much without knowing them their story is enough, the story that they wrote out of boredom, because they felt like it, because they thought it was interesting, for their own amusement or whatever reason they had to write it is enough.
Call me childish and immature if want to you're probably thinking "It's just a book jeez calm down" and that's okay because I can't force you to feel the same and agree with something if you don't understand it but no it isn't just a book it's a story; the story of living beings with dreams and hopes that we watch smile, laugh, cry, scream, run, faint, feel . We watch how their lives moves and all the disgraces and joys that crash into them and the lessons that comes with them and when the story is over, we can truly appreciate how much effort and care the writer put into it.
If you're currently reading a book and this one keeps you at the edge of your seat all the time and it's just so painful to read but you can't stop because you really need to know what's going to happen don't worry because that's how you recognize a good writer .
