hey btw if you're an employee at a restaurant/some sort of food service place, being polite giving the homeless person asking for food is not only the Right Thing To Do, it's also the most efficient way of getting them out of your store. I don't care if your boss says it's against policy. I don't care if your boss wants you to call the cops. Think about the food you have to waste at your job and fork some over to someone who needs it. Yes, even if they're mentally ill or an addict or smelly or whatever.
