Glasser - Easy (Official Video)
Glasser | Easy
Glasser — crux
I’m in a pretty damn positive mood tonight for the first time in about a year, so I might as well select a song that is appropriate for that sensation. It also gives me a special kind of satisfaction to be a vendor of sorts for an entire swath of hidden hits buried under a mountain of corporate conventionalities as to what is considered ‘good and acceptable’ for the cauliflowered ears of modern braindead consumers. The fact is most modern songs, just like most modern movies, suck harder than a prostitute with emphysema. Praise the heavens then that soloists like Glasser (Cameron Mesirow) exist to break with all the modern mediocrity and actually deliver a product that is both meaningful and exceptional in raw vocal talent. Born in my U.S. regional neck of the woods, Boston, this impressive and young artist has a rather small body of work going back just over a decade. But what she lacks in with width, she makes up for in depth. This is indietronica, albeit a style of it that manages to incorporate an equatorial version of pop along with a tribal form of percussion. If I could pick one word to describe Glasser's music, it would be ethereal as the overall sound definitely evokes a worldwide-folk vibe. Having achieved only a moderate level of success in the industry, this artist at least tries to take the unpopular route and actually puts thought into her song writing... creating vivid, vibrant and intelligent tunes as a direct result. This kind of music is as rare as it is spiritually transcendent compared to the ho-hum, ten-for-a-nickel lamestream pop that regularly makes me turn off my radio in utter contempt and disgust. This is Apply from the 2010 album Ring. It’s dreamy, it’s kinda catchy, and compared to the doldrums of modern and overly generic/corporate pop music... it’s a certified motherfuckin’ masterpiece. Smash play and enjoy a hymn!
