GlassUp is the rival of Google Glass. Its funding campaign which depends upon crowds of people has been hurt badly in its initial phases. This detrimental blow has been made by none other than PayPal and IndieGoGo. The issues were soon amicably resolved though.

GlassUp has been in development for two years now, according to their owners. Even still, I'm certain that Google will take exception to both the name and the tech.  The only question is weather or not they will beat Google to mass market. A $399 camera-less model of GlassUp is expected to ship by February 2014 and Google Glass is expected to be released around the same time. 

"GlassUp is marking the official launch of its Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for a pair of smart glasses similar in concept to Google Glass, but with a stripped-down feature set.

The crowdfunding campaign has currently raised only a portion of its $150,000 goal, but the GlassUp team says that it will release the product through investors even if it doesn’t get the full amount.

Unlike Google Glass, GlassUp places the display in the middle of your field of vision. The idea is that if you were talking face-to-face with someone, text notifications would show up on their tie."
