JORDAN BRAILEY is an 19 year old PATIENT in the PSYCHIATRIC WARD. She suffers SCHIZOPHRENIA and CAPGRAS SYNDROME and looks a lot like Jacob Artist.
On paper, Jordan Brailey was perfect - an athlete, stamina allowing him to run for miles, to toss a football several yards... Sure, he was a flirt but he wasn’t one of the jocks that tried to make peoples lives miserable. That was what had made him so incredibly popular. Jordan fit in to near enough every social clique that existed. He hopped from group to group, his charm and natural wit taking him to destinations that everybody else wished they could. His other varsity friends made sure they did their job in poking fun at him for befriending the nerds, for taking part in his schools theatre programme but that was the way that every high school boy worked. Jordan was a people pleaser but not everybody knew about what occurred behind closed doors... As a teenager who played so cool, he was surprised when he started to hear voices. Schizophrenia - he read online... It started off as minor, boosting his confidence and encouraging him to play it cool with just about anyone he ever came by - particularly women, but that came with its own curses too. Despite being incredibly rare, he had his bad days - where the voices reminded him of his stereotypes and how he was nothing more than some sort of beg who needed to be accepted by those around him. As high as Jordan could be at times, he had his lows that came crashing too - being belittled by the very voices that would quite often, boost him up.
WE HOPE THEY’RE PLAYING A GAME
Just when he thought his life was about to crumble, he met a girl... She had transferred from another state and happened to be one of the brainiacs - seated in all of Jordan’s classes. It would be a lie to say they didn’t hit it off pretty quickly... Jayde knew she had an illness that not many people her age could relate to but Jordan made her feel worth it and soon enough, Jordan realised that Jayde could make his flaws disappear too. As soon as he clutched on to the first bit of hope that somebody might have been able to fix him, he fell head over heels for her. Jordan knew that Jayde wasn’t going to be some short term fling... They helped one another in ways that nobody else would ever understand. They even started planning their life together, senior year quickly coming around the corner. As two young people in love and desperate to spend their futures with one another, they applied for the same colleges and came to an agreement - if one got into a certain school but the other didn’t, they wouldn’t be attending - it was as simple as that. Surely, with their high grades, they were given the choice of the ones that they did apply for. Both flying the nest together, getting an apartment and building a whole new life for themselves.
BUT THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING
It didn’t take long for Jordan to notice that Jayde was growing more independent... She had adapted to her own illness, learnt to deal with it and as soon as she had started her classes - Jayde was making friends, transforming like a butterfly to fit into her new life just as quickly as she had in high school. It wasn’t that she was detaching herself from Jordan, but even he noticed the changes within her... She became more bubbly, more open, quicker to invite people into her life and Jordan felt as though he was being replaced - his schizophrenia, catapulting back into his life... Although, it had never really gone, the voices had just gone quiet once they realised that they could no longer attack him. Within time, Jordan became more posessive - developing a disease named capgras syndrome. The more free that Jayde became, the more convinced he was that his loved one was an imposter. He had set off for college with Jayde but she was no longer Jayde... She had just changed so much, that she was near enough a villain in his head... No, his Jayde would have never pushed him to the side like that - leaving him as second best and replacing him with other people. As his delusions heightened, Jordan became volatile - accusing his girlfriend of being somebody she wasn’t. Really, he was hoping that the ‘imposter’ may eventually reveal themselves, but all he caused was friction in their relationship. Given that she poured her all into him and made sure they got into the same college so they could stay together, Jayde was left heartbroken when one day, he lashed out at her - gripping her by the arm as she went to leave during an argument... Only his grip caused her brittle forearm to snap, campus security busting through the door and hauling him off to a psychological evaluation, where he was then sent to Brielle Institute.
