DARREN CHAMBERS is a 45 year old DOCTOR at Brielle Institute and looks a lot like Zachary Quinto.
MAYBE THEY’RE HIDING
In his younger years, Darren Chambers was everything that his parents had objected to - a smoker and drinker who went to far too many concerts and mingled a little too much for their liking. It wasn’t that they held some prestigous name; they were just your average family but like every normal set of parents that a young man could have, they wanted to ensure that their son was the very best he could be - though they would not force him. If Darren did something wrong or got himself into a little trouble, then it was a lesson that he would learn from. Never did they say no to something he asked for but when the midnight haired man climbed the diving board, the repurcussions were at his own hands when he fell into the shallows. Just like any son who needed their help, he would often call on them to pick him up from parties or to lend him some money... They helped him out where they could but unfortunately, could not always afford to say yes - which was why on that dreaded night, they did not answer their phone when he was in desperate need. After one of his friends had been punched in a moshpit that had got out of hand, Darren had intervened - keeping the peace in the way his parents had always taught him. His friends were all so jealous over how chivalrous he was; despite his leather jacket and spiked black hair, he was still the gentleman of the group but that didn’t stop the other punks from jumping him after the concert had ended.
WE HOPE THEY’RE PLAYING A GAME
Left in an alleyway to die, his phone screen smothered in a bloodcurdling liquid as he bled out on the floor - Darren’s cries had found mercy when a young blonde stumbled upon him, having come from the concert too. It was a complete opposite; a twenty year old intern nurse who went to rock shows, allowing her mane to fall loose whilst her fishnet clad thighs jumped in time to the music... She was in no position heal him back to health; not with the alcohol she had consumed or the fact that she was just an intern. Taking it upon herself to cut her night short there and take him into the hospital, Beverly hopped into the back of an ambulance and made sure that she stayed with the stranger through the night - sitting by his bedside until he woke up. Of course, the alcohol had worn off by now... She was due to start work and so she had given herself a makeover, clearing her face of the heavy makeup that was there last night - her black attire replaced with the pure white of her uniform. Beverly was Darren’s angel; she had saved his life and there she stood, like some kind of saviour. Within a few days, he was on the mend - his wounds healing over and his mental state seemingly resorting back to normal, though this didn’t prevent the newfound kick that his head decided to give him. The phrase was named the ‘Florence Nightingale effect’, where the patient fell in love with their caregiver... Having heard of everything that the blonde had done for him, Darren realised that perhaps, looking after himself would be the better option... He now had a reason to keep himself healthy and that was the nurse who stood before him. Slowly but surely, a relationship blossomed - although their time was cut short when Darren was due to check out of the hospital.
BUT THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING
Meeting Beverly had really woke Darren up... It made him think about his own life and how at the age of twenty five, depending on his parents wasn’t going to get him anywhere. It was time that he truly started trying to make a difference. Just like she had done over the span of a few days, Beverly encouraged him to find his calling and in no time whatsoever, Darren decided that he wanted to go down a similar profession to Beverly. Within a few days, she had changed his life so drastically and it was for the better... What if he could do the same for other people who were in his position? Within a few years, Darren had completed his training - he had gone back to school, graduated and was ready to become a doctor. Things had turned around for him and living on cloud nine felt much better than he ever could have fathomed. In fact, he didn’t believe that life could get any better until him and Beverly discovered that she was pregnant. Sixteen years later, their only child Gracie had begun to face issues at home... The girls in her school turned against her - bullying the younger into a sheltered mental state and causing a downfall of issues to come crashing downward; smashing against her personality and tearing her shell to pieces. In need of a change and realising that their daughter needed some help that they could not offer, the Chambers family requested for her to speak to a psychiatrist at the facility they were working - hoping that some counselling may help their daughter release everything from her chest, only the outcome was far worse than they could have imagined. There and then, Gracie was diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder and Perfectionism... As their worlds turned upside down, the hospital in which they were working only dealing with medical issues, the Chambers family needed somewhere else they could go - somewhere where they could work happily, knowing that Gracie was recieving the care that she truly dserved. Brielle Institute was one of the first places to pop up - an institute known for its psychiatric and medical ward... And even better, they were looking for medical staff. Deciding to up and move almost immediately, the Chambers family headed to Oregon - ready for their fresh start.
