If I buy the Frosh Kit for both Glendon and Faculty of Health (psychology) because I will have courses at both campuses, can I attend frosh events at both? Will they let me buy the kit at Keele too even though I'm officially at glendon? (But I will be taking 3 courses at keele, 1and a half at glendon...)
You buy the frosh kit associated with your college, not your campus, and it makes no sense to buy frosh kits based on which courses you’re taking.
If you are a Glendon student, then you will be buying the frosh kit from Glendon College.
If you are a Faculty of Health student (Psych) , then you will be buying the frosh kit from Calumet College.
Please refrain from buying two frosh kits and ones that are not associated with your college/program, this takes away the opportunity for another student who actually belongs to that college. Frosh kits run out pretty quickly, and it’s things like this that ruin it for others.

'Definitely, we have to do better,' college's president Donald Ipperciel says
A spate of bomb threats and hateful graffiti incidents at a Toronto-area university campus prompted about 100 concerned students to show up to a town hall meeting to voice their concerns to administrators and police.
In the past month alone, York University's Glendon College campus has seen six separate bomb threats, in addition to what is listed as a "hate incident" in a summary report by the university.
All are classified as either anti-Semitic in nature or anti-Black, with the latest of the three taking place in only the past week.

At least three of the incidents have also prompted evacuations.
That has some students on edge, worried about the possibility that the threats might turn to action.

To the professor who tried to make my life a living hell, to the professor who targeted me because......
To the professor who tried to make my life a living hell, to the professor who targeted me because I was a Jew, to the professor who ruined my chances at grad school, to the professor who didn’t win.
I never hated you, nor had anything against you, I had a high regard for you and even more respect for your work; I was patient with you and always defended you when others spoke ill against you. Yet despite my faith in you, you were repugnant of me. You ignored me when I spoke, you invalidated my ideas, you humiliated me in front of my classmates, you expressed your beliefs that I would never go far, and you graded me harsher then anyone else. Why?
Because of who I was. Because I was Jewish.
I have always been a very openly proud Jew and supporter for the State of Israel. To show my dedication, I re-founded my campus Hillel and organized events to show the world what Judaism and Israel truly represent.
My Campus was tiny, 2 500 students to be exact, so everyone knew I was head of the “Jewish club” and everyone understood what I stood for…. You didn’t like it, so you brought me down. I remember the look on your face when I said my thesis topic was to study trauma with a special outlook on Israel. After that day, you made sure I would pay for my comment. And oh did you make me pay.
You and I know very well the real reason for your dislike over me. Although you may have protected your every step, the truth always reveals itself in the most curious of ways. For you, it was your inability to hide your emotions.
You made me do trice as much work as everyone, and made sure my grades were twice as bad as my classmates. In fact, they were my witness throughout all this, always in shock about your behaviour towards me, but too afraid to speak up. I don’t harbor bitter feelings towards them; they were afraid, afraid of your judgment and prejudice. I was afraid too. But I’m not afraid anymore.
I never thought I would write this article because I never believed it would change anything and my mouth was paralyzed by your authority over me, but now I have realized something impertinent: It is not me who should be anxious, it is you.
And guess what, I’d do it all over again. Because no professor, no person, no system, will make me neglect and hide who I am and what I believe in. So go ahead, smugly grin at your well intended sabotage but know in the end that your hate, only made my efforts stronger. In the end you are partly responsible for my fervent struggle against anti-Semitism and anti- Zionism.
So tell me, who won in the end?

Let’s hit the books
Hey everyone!
Exams are creeping up quickly so it’s time to hunker down and hit the books! You know you shouldn’t be on Tumblr right now with finals right around the corner, but we’re on your side! We know you can do it with a little bit of help. That’s why we’ve compiled our top 10 study tips:
Do your homework in a tidy, well-lit, and comfortable space. Avoid studying in bed to keep you focused
Study with a buddy
Avoid distractions! Put away your phone and other things that might bug you during your studies. Use websites like http://getcoldturkey.com/ to block websites temporarily that distract you
Have breaks and healthy snacks to break up your studying and keep your mind sharp
Make flashcards of main terms that you need to learn and get a friend to test you
Create acronyms to help you memorize
Start studying well in advance to avoid stressful cramming the night before
Study in 15min intervals to avoid overloading your brain
Get a good night’s rest before your exam
Try teaching your material to someone else as it’s been proven to be a good way of retaining information
Obviously, everyone studies and learns differently, so your study habits may differ from ours. By staying focused and preparing ahead, you can avoid unnecessary stress and anxiety. At the end of the day, remember that marks are just numbers and as long as you do your best, that’s what counts. Don’t be too hard on yourself and have a great exam period.
Butt out!
Hello to our regular + new readers! We’re so sorry about the sudden halt in our postings. Due to the strike occurring at York University, we stopped posting out of respect for those that are striking. We recently got the thumbs up to start up again this week, so here we are! We’re nearing the end of our term together with our current team, but we’ll do our best to make the last couple of weeks good.
Over the past 8 weeks, one of our Glendon Health Ed members was taking part in our Leave The Pack Behind’s contest that promoted quitting smoking or staying smoke free for a total of 8 weeks. Kicking a bad habit can be very hard but we’re proud to say that Victoria did it!
There are SO many reasons to quit smoking, such as saving you money, saving your family and friends from second-hand smoke, and improving your overall health. It’s never too late to quit~
There are many ways to crush the craving:
cutting back gradually
going “cold turkey”, which means stopping completely
using nicotine replacements, such as Thrive gum or nicotine patches
using medication such as Zyban
Victoria decided to challenge herself and cut back on smoking completely. She resisted the urge to smoke by getting rid of her cigarettes, avoiding hanging out with friends as they smoked, relying on her family and friends for support, and distracting herself by eating a mint when she felt an urge.
There is no one right way to quitting! Everyone handles things differently and as much as cutting back gradually may work for someone, patches may be a better option for someone else. Using a combination of methods will increase your chances of quitting!
Of course, the quitting process shouldn’t feel like a punishment! Treat yourself and set goals to keep you motivated. Put the money away that you’d normally spend on cigarettes in a jar and treat yourself to a movie or a new article of clothing throughout the process. If you slip up, it’s okay, no one is perfect. The point that you’re trying your best is what matters. With the support of family, friends, and specialists you too can kick your smoking habit to the curb :)
