Harry looked up from his homework when he heard his father’s words. Norman had dropped by and, as he always did, spent most of the time on his phone. He hadn’t realized his father was off the call until he heard him speak.

Closing his book, glad to be rid of the hopelessness that was him trying to do his homework, he looked up at his father. He swallowed and shrugged, making sure that Pete wasn’t around. “Look, dad...
