Otro apunte más sobre "Darkness, Darkness" de Youngbloods. Antes de que Eric Burdon la interpretara, la versionaron Mott The Hoople e Iain Matthews en 1971 y 1976 respectivamente, pero destaco la primera versión que alguien hizo del tema, la cantante melódica Gloria Loring en septiembre de ese mismo 1969. Una fantástica toma orquestal con contrabajo de Richard Davis - el hombre que tocó en las "semanas astrales" de Van Morrison- incluida en su segundo álbum "And Now We Come to Distances" de 1970, publicado por el sello Evolution. La cantante y actriz Gloria Loring, por cierto, estuvo casada con el actor, productor, guionista y compositor Alan Thicke y es madre del cantante pop Robin Thicke.

Gloria Loring co-wrote and performed The Facts of Life theme, one of the most recognizable intros of the ’80s. The song, co-written with her then-husband Alan Thicke and Al Burton, offered sage advice about life’s ups and downs. Alan Thicke was also the co-writer of the Diff’rent Strokes theme, which makes sense since The Facts of Life was a spin-off! Loring’s warm vocals made this life-lesson-packed tune unforgettable.
