Bill Shafer is an outsider renaissance man: When his music career was cut short by a hellish combination of carpal tunnel and an accident that left him with little feeling in his right hand, he took to writing, including scripting the hilariously demented comic book mini-series GlueBoy. I met him while we were both tabling at a disappointing comics show he later dubbed Boston Patheticon. In the late 'oughts, Bill left Massachusetts for the LA area and opened Hyaena Gallery in Burbank, which specializes in outsider art. He's kept it going over the years, with a wild succession of monthly solo and themed group shows. Bill is currently in the ICU with COVID-19 -- and has been for about 1 week now. (I originally thought it was 3, but now [8/2] he's expected to be in for an additional 2 weeks.) Like many small business people, and many in the arts community, has no medical insurance. Bill's friend Brian Williams has opened a GoFundMe to help defray the still-mounting costs of his care. I've given, and I hope you will, too.

Season 5 Episode 17a - The Racing Mule

I’m back! The Racing Mule is yet another episode I had not seen before. It was basically Steely Phil with a mule going against a jerk protagonist and with the main character winning as opposed to tying, but that’s most sports-related cartoons anyway. Arnold singing You Are My Sunshine to Glueboy was cute as hell. But putting Glueboy’s stable in the back of the boarding house...well, Homer’s terrible idea from Lisa’s Pony came to mind immediately once I realized what they were doing, and so that’s what you get for this comic.

Chat I’m reading the killing eve book rn and I’m gonna be honest I went into this thinking it was lesbian Hannibal and I’ve come to the realization I fucking hate Luke jennings’ writing

Why is villanelle just like a cardboard cut out of a sexy woman who kills people…? Like every single scene she’s in revolves around sex somehow to the point it’s almost comical. Even Eve is like….so uninteresting and she’s supposed to be the lead like come on now. It even happens with women in the background! They’re so reductive I wanna scream

Also like is this seriously the best we can do with like sapphic representation in media????? I’m praying that the show is better / handled kinder / less weird bc I really do want to watch it but idk how much more I can take.

I was gonna end this with like “oh if they don’t kiss at the end I’m gonna be mad” but honest to god even if they do it will somehow manage to enrage me bc I can just tell it’s gonna be so fetishy and weird.
