Despite not having an international home for Voltes V Legacy, the Filipino GMA-7 Network has announced an adaptation of Tosho Daimos as their next super robot anime to adapt for live-action. Funny enough, the joke with many Filipinos is that Daimos already hits a lot of the cliches of a traditional Filipino soap opera, while Legacy modified its elements to better fit that framework.
It also bares mentioning that Voltron is still in pre-production at Amazon Studios because the Voltron fandom was the absolute worst at Dreamworks, the Gundam movie is coming roughly never, Transformers refuses to move beyond the Michael Bay framework, but the Filipinos have successfully made a Voltes V adaptation and seem to have Daimos targeted for 2026. Hollywood has once again lost the plot.
Superheroine detective work: Super Klenk broadcast details uncovered
Ah yes, Super Klenk! The Filipino tv series that is possibly the most well hidden show in the history of superhero television..!
Despite running in primetime on a major network, Super Klenk has left behind precious little evidence of its existence: scant details lifted from a press release, a tiny handful of low-resolution photos, and a few seconds of video footage in a promo. We're not even entirely certain how many episodes of the show were broadcast.
Until, perhaps, now...
Many many years ago Google Books began to collect scans of thousands of old newspapers. The site is somewhat neglected these days (the design has an early 2010s vibe), but the archive is still accessible and -- importantly! -- has indexes of a handful of Filipino papers.
Would there be any details of Super Klenk hiding amidst these column inches, perhaps..?
Time to turn detective...
The Philippine National Enquirer published weekly tv listings in its Saturday editions. Sure enough there's an entry for Super Klenk in its Saturday 1st January 2000 edition, showing that the show was scheduled for broadcast on Sunday 2nd at 8:00pm on Channel 7 (aka GMA-7.) Subsequent Saturday editions also have listings scheduling Super Klenk for January 9th, 16th, 23rd; February 6th, 13th; March 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th; and April 2nd, 9th, 16th. (No listings were available for February 20th and 27th, nor April 23rd -- those editions are absent from the archive.)
A short article about Super Klenk's star Ara Mina, published on April 15th, claims the series had folded, suggesting that April 16th was likely the show's last broadcast. Presumably the next Enquirer Saturday edition (23rd April, missing from the archive) would have shown a replacement series. All archived editions after this date have Super Klenk absent from tv listings.
Common internet wisdom is that 13 episodes were broadcast before the show was cancelled. But (assuming broadcasts on 20th and 27th February) the tv listings show 4 episodes each in January, February, and March, plus 3 in April, making a grand total of 15 episodes.
Unfortunately the Google archive for the Philippine National Enquirer only goes back as far as 1st January 2000. However, the one brief video clip we have of Super Klenk is from a promo that suggests its debut was set for December 12th. This might indicate 3 episodes in 1999: December 12th, 19th, and 26th. That ups the potential episode count from 15 to 18 episodes!
But we should be careful...
Tv listings can be unreliable. Guide magazines are often prepared six weeks ahead of broadcast, so don't reflect sudden cancellations or late reschedulings. Daily newspapers have a shorter lead time, but they typically only print the show title, making it impossible to know whether a repeat or original episode is being shown.
Indeed the Enquirer exhibits some contradictions within its own pages: the listings consistently show Super Klenk being broadcast at 8:00pm, yet there's a couple of brief mentions in articles that suggest the show was switched to 7:30pm during January.
The tv listings may be unreliable, but at least they give us something to work from, rather than a vacuum.
But aside from these air dates, are there any other snippets of information lurking amidst the newspaper archive?
Sadly, not many. (Although it is possible they've yet to be surfaced by the right search query.) The 11th March edition gives a brief synopsis of the next episode, mentioning a plot that sees the heroine putting up with a house guest and fighting a villain known as Bingo Man. There's some profile pieces on actors who appeared in the series, but they only mention Super Klenk as a line item on a list of credits.
It is entirely possible that there are other archives, with magazines and newspapers that give further details on this series, but for now we'll have to make do with a list of potential broadcast dates and a brief plot synopsis of one episode.

Title: Aldub Kilig Moments Lub Pa More!_#14(ALDUB Wacky Moments)
Bago umalis sina Bruce (Jak Roberto) at Victoria (Lauren Young) patungong U.S., sasabihin na ng huli ang kanyang tunay na nararamdaman tungkol sa relasyon ni...
This may or may not be an unpopular opinion but…
This is one of the worst shows I’ve ever watched this year. First of all, I just want to clarify that I have NOTHING against the cast members, I think the actors did a marvelous job at portraying their characters. I didn’t religiously follow the entire show (I’m too busy for TV shows guys!) so there maybe some details that I missed out, but I do believe that I have a pretty good grasp of the story, and these are just my thoughts based on what I saw obviously.
I don’t know what the hell the writer was smoking when he/she/they wrote this.
1. The main characters are problematic af
Bruce (played by Jak Roberto) is probably one of the most selfish, sAD bOy scumbag to ever exist on Philippine TV. Correct me if I’m wrong guys, but from what I recall it was him who begged Victoria (Lauren Young) to marry him because he wants to move on from his ex-girlfriend, Joyce (Klea Pineda). In short, he only married her for his own convenience, although I must say that throughout their seven-year-marriage he did try, but you really can’t force love.
What pisses me off is that all throughout the series, he was this kind of guy who has this bullshit mindset that he didn’t want to hurt his wife and at the same time he can’t stay away from his ex (Ang labo diba?). He treated his wife like garbage, gave her false hopes, she was never his top priority and the worse part was that he cheated on her with his cancer-stricken ex who’s equally selfish.
How can I not hate him?
He had the balls to stick to his MISTRESS but wasn’t man enough to admit the truth to his WIFE because he was feeling guilty. I’m like dude, you’re having a relationship with other women behind your wife’s back how do you expect her to react? And what if Victoria never caught them? Would he have kept the both of them to himself because he didn’t want to hurt the two women? Duuuuude! I CANNOT!!!
In the finale he chose to be with his wife eventhough he still loves Joyce because as Victoria’s husband, it’s only “right” to choose her…oo nga naman pero putang ina sis, if it wasn’t for Victoria who finally decided to end their marriage I don’t think he would ever redeem himself at all. I wouldn’t even call it redemption, because if he really wanted to make things right, he should have been honest with Victoria waaaay before all this bullshits, apologized (I don’t care if he had to beg for her forgiveness), set her free because she doesn’t deserve a man like him. I just feel really disappointed that the only time he apologized for being the worst husband was when Victoria chose herself.
Joyce (played by Klea Pineda) is another disappointing character. I mean yes, I do feel bad for her because she went through so much because of cancer, and I don’t think she’s a bad person. That’s the fucking point! She’s not a bad person but she makes the worst decisions. Here’s the thing:
-When your ex is hitting on you and he’s already married, the right thing to do is to stay away from him. It doesn’t matter if he cares for you “as a friend,” it doesn’t matter if he’s the one who keeps on insisting himself back into your life, it doesn’t matter if he isn’t happy with his present, the fact that he’s already tied to someone else simply means HANDS OFF! Let him deal with his own shit ffs.
-Cancer is the kind of disease that not only fucks up your body but also your mental health. I know when people are dying they just want to make sure that they’ve lived their lives to the fullest so they won’t have any regrets in the end. Pero jusko naman, at the expense of someone’s else’s marriage? You have your family and friends who love and support you throughout this battle, how can it not be enough? Just because you’re sick doesn’t mean you’re gonna ruin someone else’s life, it’s cancer! It’s not other people’s fault that you have it!
-Allowing yourself to be a mistress of all things, using your illness to borrow someone else’s husband–these are just mind-blowing. Girl, at least have some dignity! You’re not a good example to others. Also, can she not see that Bruce is a jerk?
2. The REAL hero is the second female lead
Victoria (played by Lauren Young) is the true main character of this story. She’s beautiful, kind, and patient. Her only mistake was falling in-love and giving her all with a man like Bruce. She allowed herself to be his rebound and back-up plan, thinking that she could one day turn the tables and make him fall for her. She spent so much time trying to fix a broken man without realizing that she was tearing herself apart in the process. I wouldn’t blame her for fighting for Bruce because she’s the wife and she has every right to be with her husband. I felt so bad when everyone was taking advantage of her kindness and her love for Bruce. At some point in her story, I felt like I wanted to be that friend who’d slap her with the reality yet would also defend her from the people who fucked her up.
But I guess her character was written this way because the writer was teaching us something:
-In a relationship, it takes two to tango. If you’re the only one who’s making efforts, then this doesn’t fall in any type of relationship.
-Never allow someone else to treat you like shit, it doesn’t matter if you love this person. Self-love and self-respect are our best weapons to protect ourselves from being wrecked by scumbags.
-I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, know when to say enough is enough. Letting go is not a bad thing, it doesn’t make you a failure, it doesn’t make you a loser. In fact it’s the other way around, it makes you stronger, wiser, more confident about yourself. Everyone else can fuck off, you deserve better.
-Lastly, when you gave your all and you gave your best, then you have nothing to feel bad about, you have nothing to regret. It’s not your loss dear, cheer up!
3. This is not what I expected.
The love triangle between Bruce, Joyce and Victoria revolves around the the question, “Would you rather be right or be happy?”
Victoria chose both, she made the right decision to free herself from that marriage in order to be happy.
However, for Bruce and Joyce’s part, I don’t like the kind of message they sent to the viewers: that as long as you’re happy, it doesn’t matter if you’re hurting someone else. That’s selfish, and I don’t see it any other way. It reminds me of those classic “glorifying-the-kabit” shows of the 80’s, it’s 2021 this should have been written better.
To be fair, this kind of story SADLY happens in real life. But you know, when you have this big-ass platform, you use it to teach people that this shit isn’t right. Right? They lived up to their title, “Never say Goodbye,” but the overall quality of this show failed to measure up with its predecesor.
Joyce’s character is an insult to people who are suffering from any serious illness. Magpapakababa ka dahil anyway mamamatay ka na rin lang? Who does that? If Joyce just focused on her treatment and rebuilding herself after this whole mess, then I would have had so much respect for her. That would have been a real redemption for her character.
Bruce is an epitome of someone that no one should be with. Ever. He’s a cheater, a liar, paasa, and is just simply a boy in a grown man’s body. He is not a man of his word, and if I were to choose an ending for his character then I wouldn’t want him to end up with either Victoria or Joyce, because he doesn’t deserve them. The dude needs to grow up seriously. Also, I like Jak Roberto as an actor, but this is one of the worst characters he has ever portrayed.
Victoria is the saving grace of this show for me. Hopefully, this Gerald will be the guy who can give her the love and respect she never got from Bruce. Thankfully, this is not a shoot-to-air episode, otherwise I bet they would have turned Victoria into a psychopath in the long run and in the end people are gonna forget that she’s the real victim here. Lock-in tapings are way better afterall.
Overall, I agree with other viewers that this is NOWHERE NEAR “Loving Miss Bridgette.” Story-wise this is by far the worst in the Stories from the Heart series. I’m just hoping that Gabbi and Kahlil’s Love on Air will be a lot better.
P.S. I just need to get this off my mind otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to focus. Sige na mag-aaral na ulit ako 😂😜

Miss Philippines Earth 2020 to air exclusively on GMA
It may be a virtual pageant. But the organizers of Miss Philippines Earth were still able to negotiate the TV airing of its 2020 edition on GMA-7 on July 5 at 10am.
From what I understand, the entire finals will be pre-recorded a full day before the telecast. So the challenge now is how to prevent spoilers from seeping out of the closely-guarded filming.
