Desperate Love Confession for Gortash please?
Thank you for this request, lovely anon! 💕 Sorry it's taken so long to get to. My writing inspo comes in waves. 😂 I'm a tavtash lover, myself, but this is for my lovely durgetashers, since I've not written this pairing before!
I believe this is as desperate as Gortash would allow himself to get.
The walk up the stairs to the tyrant's office felt eerily familiar, while remaining altogether too hazy to piece together properly. The stone walls echoed with laughter and secret rendezvous - long buried between the bricks - as the ghosts of your intermingled voices hovered near the edges of your broken mind. You traced the memories with your fingers as you passed, aches coming and going as your heartbeat rose and fell in time with your steps. You paused when you rounded the corner, his door now in plain view, and a vision took its place:
"Pay my sister little mind," you soothed, more for his sake than your own. Orin was no threat to you. Her petulant tantrums had proven that time and time again. She yearned for approval from a father who craved only blood and she sliced at you blindly for receiving what she so desperately desired. But she did not understand Bhaal's ways. She never had. In a sense, you felt sorry for her - but not sorry enough to allow her to get in your way.
"She is planning something this time, dirge," he pleaded, eyes wilder in the opulent lights than usual. "She is skulking about in silence. You know how little she cares for quiet. She could ruin us if we don't pay attention. We have worked for far too long to let our guard down."
"Enough, my little tyrant," you purred, dragging a clawed fingernail down the side of his marred countenance. Something in the way his skin had begun to blacken and his eyes had started to sink back in his skull both pleased and repulsed you. The longer he acted as Bane's vessel, the more the god disfigured him. You missed the face he used to wear - sharp, cunning, and spritely. Had he only been a follower of Bhaal, he could have kept that lovely... you shook your head. Now was no time to dwell on impossible alternatives. His eyes still held the wit and intelligence you were so endeared to and his allegiance was to you all the same, and that's what mattered. It is all that mattered.
He sighed, deflating in a way that screamed of frustrated restraint. "If we are thrown off course because you did not listen, I will cleave that beautiful arm from its socket myself." You laughed, then, your head thrown back in wild abandon.
"My little tyrant, threatening me? My my, the heart of Bane is alive and well after all."
He glared daggers at you through his uncut bangs. "My care for you is..." he paused, his eyes scattering from your face in - was that embarrassment? You smiled at the display. "...unparalleled." You grabbed his chin and turned his face to yours again, fire in your eyes.
"I will remember that, my love," you whispered, aflame at the way his brown eyes dilated in response.
You stumbled, slumping against the wall outside Gortash's door - your little tyrant. Your breath was ragged and your heart raced, a thousand regrets blazing through you. You had forgotten. You had promised you would remember. Breath heaving, you straightened up, your fingers coming to rest on the dark oak. You could not run, not anymore. You had to face him. You pressed your palms against the door and entered, facing what was long dead.
