Was there ever a consensus on the chain necklace Crowley wears in the s1? My headcanon leans towards it being his chain to Hell, especially since it's not apparent in s2. However, I don't recall it being visible until modern times. Then again, his modern clothing is more open with a clearer view of his neck and chest than his historical garb.

Example of this is Lindsey. We are never given any pronouns or “girlfriend” or “boyfriend”.
Maybe we are just wanting to put a message where there isn’t one, but I am pretty sure that has been intentional too. How the partner’s gender isn’t the point, but instead how the relationship is going.
