thinking about lines of travel in the star trek universe and i imagine for civilians it's much like transit lines near a major city. like sure, it would be faster and make more sense to go directly between two locations as the crow flies. but you're gonna have to instead go via earth (toronto) and have it take three times as long
despite the Fascism and budget cuts a lot of Transit Project have opened in North America this year, earlier in the Year the LAX Transit Center Opened and Amtrak launched the Mardi Gras between New Orleans and Mobile, then LA opened the Pomona extension of the A line, Kansas City extended their Streetcar, Dallas opened the Silver Line, Toronto opened Mount Dennis Station (without the Eglinton Crosstown tho), Montreal extended the REM to Deux-Montagnes, and Weekend service began on the Kitchener line, and in 2 weeks Toronto will open the Finch West LRT (still no Eglinton Crosstown tho) and Seattle will open the Federal Way extension

[...] Commuters using GO Transit to connect to service provided by more than a dozen local agencies haven’t had to pay a second fare since March 2022, including on most transit services in the GTA. But the TTC was left out of the initial rollout and its riders have continued to have to pay twice, even in cases where their journeys begin and end in Toronto.
