Game Plan to Achieve Goal #2

My second goal is to become proficient at successfully sharing ideas to an audience. An effective way I can share an idea to audience is to follow the TIME acronym (forbes.com). As I create my speech and practice it, I should focus on constantly asking myself if I am fulfilling the acronym of TIME (which stands for Teach, Inspire, Motivate, and Entertain). Finally, another couple of tips I should follow are to “Let your personality come through” and “Watch for [Audience’s] feedback and adapt to it” (extension.harvard.edu). What these tips imply is 1. that I should be myself when giving my speech to appear more human to my audience and 2. that I should actively be analyzing my audience while giving my speech to see if they are following my trail of thought.

Today #EnglishClub explored traditions related to Easter, since the students are out of school next week for Easter Vacation. Here you see the club members decorating Easter eggs. Then, we played "Pin the Tail on the Bunny" while @jchrisflowers snuck outside. We did a song & dance while he secretly hid our Easter eggs. The club ended by going outside for an exciting Easter Egg Hunt! #GoalTwo #Holidays

We talked about bringing people casseroles, watching football on Sunday, and our personal space bubble. From Chris Flowers: Our excursion has started with some weather related diversions. We ended up renting a private van that we shared with this wonderful Moldovan, Elena, so we could travel to tonight’s lodging. She was very curious about what we thought about Moldova and why we came. She feels that most Moldovans want to come to America so we should start an exchange.

My favorite part of Peace Corps service is getting to meet so many cool and interesting people from Moldova and sharing about our similarities and differences.

Presentation about Cincinnati Museums

On March 17th I had the opportunity to meet with some of the staff of Muzeul Naţional de Etnografie şi Istorie Naturală (National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History) in Moldova and talk about the museums I had the opportunity to work with in Cincinnati.  This was also my first time to present to a group of Moldovans in Romanian.  My wonderful Romanian tutor Liuba helped me prepare and the presentation went well.

I enjoyed my time at the museums and Cincinnati and enjoy working with this group of museum professionals in Moldova.  There are many things that both museums do that are similar and many things different.  We hope to have more conversations like this in the future to see where we can work together to share their story of the history of the land and of the people of Moldova.

#Goal2 (of three) of the #PeaceCorps is helping promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the people’s served. With my still-limited language skills, my bucket of questions helps me start on this goal. My students write questions for me and put them in the bucket. I answer 2-3 each lesson after having my written answer corrected gramatically.
