House Lannister believes in the New Gods or so we claim. I would rather point out that House Lannister believes in the man that has the most money. The richest man gets his way more than the beloved man. Love can only last for such a long time whereas money can last for many generations to come. I am content for others to believe in what they wish to believe in; however, I believe that the Gods do not exist.
The only God I would exist in would be the God of wine and tits.
Margaery sat at her desk with her hand grasping the thin reed quill dipped in the inkwell. She paused, trying to understand what she had been mulling over for the past few days. Why was the war not over yet? Why had the Gods not punished the Lannisters. Perhaps the Gods did not exist. Perhaps they were created by someone, like a King or Noble, to keep the lower class in check so that they would never contradict their lord and saviour’s thoughts. She picked up the quill and began writing her most inner thoughts.
Like many people before me and many more to come, I have often wondered whether the Gods do exist. As a young girl, my mother used to swear by the Gods and my grandmother would simply roll her eyes at such nonsense because she believed that the Gods did not exist. If they had, grandmother would often point out with a slightly crooked finger and quirked eyebrow, then they would have saved Willas from becoming a cripple. Unfortunately the gods had other plans.... Or was it fate? Or are the gods and fate different sides of the same coin? Or are the synonymous for each other? I cannot say.
House Tyrell believes in the New Gods. I generally pray in a Sept and have been fortunate enough to sneak into King’s Landing to pray for my family’s safety. However, with the war growing dangerous with every passing day, I find myself praying at my desk in my tent. Praying for the Gods to grant my child protection in this cruel, cruel world, the safety of my friends and family, the health of friends, and the Iron Throne. I am unsure if the Gods do infect listen to prayers in times of war...This very thought has made me question my beliefs in their powers. Perhaps the Gods are stories that our parents told us to keep us well behaved and quiet as children? Perhaps they are simply fictional? I cannot say.
I do not know the answer to whether they exist or not. I would like to believe that they do exist because it would be nice to think that someone is watching out for me in this cruel world. Perhaps only time will tell whether or not they do exist. If they give me a sign... Something.... I would be grateful. I would like to think that my whispers in prayer have some effect on casting a protective shield over my loved ones but what power do they truly have? I cannot help but think that it is hopeless to continue to pray for this. Though I must keep up my faith even during times where it seems that spring will never return. The Starks say that ‘Winter is Coming’ and I believe they are right. Dark winter days are coming and there is nothing that can be done but keep up our faith and hold strong.
..That is... If I have faith in the Gods and humanity by the time this awful war has come to an end.

An in-depth explanation for the songs and how they parallel Margaery’s growth over time can be found under the read more:
Margaery Tyrell started off as the beautiful enchantress of Highgarden, stealing poor stable boys’ and squires’ (even some chambermaids’ as well) hearts with a simple smile. She learned how to get what she wanted with her looks and charms which made her dangerous (hence the first song choice on this album: Bubblegum Bitch). Recently, she married Renly Baratheon for the throne. She had heard wondrous things about him; however, she had heard the rumors of Loras and Renly being lovers. As the duty-driven wife of King Renly Baratheon, she knew what her role and duty were: to provide her husband with an heir. However, no matter how many times she tried, Renly would always push the topic of the heir off. He was too busy playing at his war to spend time with his wife or get to know her. So Margaery looked for friends and love in other places (Give Me Love).
She never expected to fall in love with Edric Storm. She met him one night and he had no clue who she was and something about him drew her to him like a moth to a flame. If she ever did anything with him, she knew she would get burned. As the days went on, she found that her feelings for him grew. Then the moment happened when he returned from his trial by combat. Perhaps it was the wine or their unbeknownst feelings for one another but they slept together. Then the two avoided each other in public for a couple of days and had a few awkward interactions. However, eventually the two were able to speak freely by disguising themselves. Margaery is quite proud of the fact that no one noticed her slip away dressed as a handmaiden (She’s a Genius).
Margaery is aware that she and Edric could be in the wrong; however, it all feels so right (Sinners). The guilt is hard to come to terms with. Eventually, the guilt fades away for Edric made everything better. And one day, she realizes that she is in love with him (A Thousand Years). After consummating her marriage with Renly whilst they were both intoxicated, she realizes that Edric and her can never be (Any Other World). With the arrival of her grandmother and older brother (Garlan), the two interrogate Margaery about the whole situation for her own safety. They set her straight; however, her emotions are conflicted (The Funeral, Love The Way You Lie). Then her whole world crashes down when rumors start about her and Asta and then Loras’ engagement to Isobel Blackwood. She confronts Renly and they get into a horrible argument. Margaery returns to her room determined to commit an act because her world feels so much colder without Edric in it (So Cold). She is stopped by her cousins. Elinor tells her that she must fight on for Edric’s sake (Elastic Heart).
BONUS TRACK: Human by Christina Perri because that is the muse’s current mood.
What most people think of when they hear the name Tyrion Lannister, they think of the gluttonous and dreadful Imp. When he is hard at work, he refuses to drink based on the principle that he must keep sharp to make important decisions. As the Hand of the King, he has to make important decisions. He also does not wish to mess up because his head is on the line. Tyrion desperately wishes to prove himself to his father. However, Tyrion rarely abstains from his drink. He enjoys it. It numbs the fact that he is an outcast in a pack of Lions. In this case, he would call himself a sinner.
The rumours are quite damming towards Tyiron. Despite being thought of as a sloth, Tyrion is very organized. On most days, he is an organized chaos; however, he can function in this way. Smart, cunning, and generous, he is able to make decisions for the greater good of his people. He never stops working because he would hate to fail.
While most claim that being a saint is what you want to do with your life and that only saints are important to society, Tyrion disagrees. In fact, he would laugh at those people for he knows that they are lying. At the end of the day, Tyrion would gladly call himself a Sinner over a Saint. Besides, the Sinners get to have more fun anyway.
Margaery has a reputation for being a very kind and warm lady to all she comes across. However, underneath all of this kindness, she is thoroughly envious of those who have love or who can marry love. In fact, she has always been envious of her brother’s love for Renly. She wishes that Renly would look at her in that way.
Lust & Chastity
The Queen has to appear as a model lady for all of her subjects; nevertheless, she is just like the ordinary human being. She has wiles that needs to be filled. Some of her ladies speak of men that they’ve encountered and spent the night with. However, now married to Renly, Margaery longs for someone to touch her. He won’t because he is not sexually attracted. They have tried but he never has gone through with it. No one will because she’s Queen.
On her death bed, Larra Poole mother told her five year old daughter to write to her. “Write to me, take your words to the Godswood and speak them true. I’ll always hear you,” and so that’s what Kalia had done ever since. The last letter she wrote and took to the Godswood was written as she fled Winterfell.
I’m afraid that this might be the last time I come here, mother.
Winterfell has been taken, betrayed and there is no longer a Stark here. I see it as I have three choices; I can stay and burn with the castle, I could ride North to the Wall and alert Jon of what has happened or I could ride to King’s Landing and find Jeyne. Though there hasn’t been any word from either her or father, not since word spread that they put Ned Stark in chains. Word has spread that they took his head and I couldn’t fear what has happened to them anymore than I do, but what will come of me if I do ride south? There could be nothing left to find and then I have wandered straight into the Lion’s claws where I will surely meet my end. Out of those three, I only really have one choice. I have to find Jeyne.
Of all my time spent here, this past week or so has been the most difficult. Jeyne and father have gone to the capital, I no longer feel like you are here with me, Lord and Lady Stark have also gone south, Jon has gone to the wall and Robb called in the banners and left. Everyone left and it really occurred to me that I have never thought what I want to make of my life. I have been so concerned by making sure that Jeyne was taken care of, wanting to see Jeyne happily married one day and living the life she has already wanted, I never stopped to consider what I want. But at the same time I don’t regret it. I may never marry, I may never even have children, but I think I would be happy to watch Jeyne’s life prosper as a maid. As long as she is happy, I am happy. So now I must ride to King’s Landing to find my sister.
