Before I knew it …
According to Republicans, all rights are God given. Every freedom we have is guaranteed only by the grace of God himself and nothing else.
Apparently God gave us the right to not be allowed to drink alcohol (18th amendment) and then gave us the right to ignore that right a few years later when people decided they want to drink it anyway (21st). God gave us the right not to have congress change their salaries in the middle of a term (27th). God gave us the right to not have the runner up in an election become vice president (12th). God gave us the right to have our income taxed disproportionately (16th).
God's machinations truly are ineffible. I wonder what rights he'll give us next?
