Saintober Day 7 - Favorite Musician

Of course it’s Mime… I procrastinated this one a lot, because it imported to me so much; I wanted it to be perfect… Mime’s Requiem is one of the most important thing to me, at some point I hesitated to just post a homage/personal rant. Still wrote it though, it’s under the cut.

His melody has always been here. Before I even knew what my name means, before I knew what a requiem was. Strings replaced by keys, child wonder as I barely reached the hands that played it. Now, that wonder is still here, as a child smaller than me grew up to make it dance on the keyboard, as I myself grew to play it as sweet memory.

A requiem is for the dead, or mourning them. But how can I cry, when it’s followed by a man jumping up and down, mimicking fights and finding back his own childhood? How can I not laugh, when it’s followed by a woman pinpointing her distaste for fictional ridiculous decisions? It is joy to me, mixed laughters from across the years that convey in a singular but oh how much repeated scene.

Did I even hear the fight when I first saw it on screen? Or did I sang out loud, or did I jumped as my tender years played with my ears? When I first saw this prompt I couldn’t picture anyone else than Mime. When I showed my sister, she wrote on the page nearly angry it wasn’t evident. I waited and waited in hope to find the perfect setting, the perfect image to draw… nothing would be enough. His music was just not a soundtrack for a show, but the soundtrack of my childhood. Maybe I tried too hard, when the answer was that simple.
