God's Gift Poetry Reading
THE NOW THAT MATTERS
“What you are is God’s gift to you. What you become is your gift to God.” —Hans Urs Balthasar There is an estimated 7.7 billion people in the world. These people have stories to tell and wisdom to give. Imagine a world full of human beings all ready to show us what to do, how to act, what to say. Imagine a world so focus on expressing opinions on everything just because they can. It is said that our existence is predestined, that there is no such thing as accidents, only things falling into the right places. When God made the world, he thought of us being in it, living in it, making it beautiful. God said, “Let us make man in our image after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth” (Genesis 1:26). We are made from the likeness of our creator. Not only that, he made us rule over all other living species. Therefore, it should be our duty to try and understand him, to create a connection with him, to get to know him. How? In this twenty-first century, we always hear “YOLO,” acronym for “You Only Live Once,” which we probably have internalized quite literally. Kids, teenagers, young professionals, even people in late their sixties are now set in making their lives something worth it. They set goals, focusing on it and forgetting the now. This is not wrong—us finding what we really want in life is never wrong. Unless we get too focused on that goal we throw away our now. Nowadays, people get to do what they want regardless of who gets hurt. There was one youtuber who posted a video of him feeding a homeless man toothpaste-filled Oreos. He was sentenced with fifteen months in prison. It was a joke for him, but for the man? It was supposed to be food. It was supposed to make him happy, thankful even, but it didn’t. What is this trying to tell us? We forget the now. We tend to focus on the prize, on the goal, the instant reward or fame. We forget that, in the process, someone might get hurt, humiliated, damaged. Even if we are made to rule over other beings here on earth, that doesn’t mean we can just do whatever we want. This life is God’s gift to us. We should thank him by living up to his name. Let others see his reflection in us. Let others encounter him through us, because every encounter with God is an encounter with truth. Read the full article
#9 Grace!
Before we talk about justification, we have to talk about grace. How can anyone understand fully the Grace of our Great God? I cry just thinking about it. Here are some definitions:
Grace is what you get when you don’t deserve it. Grace is God’s unmerited favor to those who are under condemnation. Grace is God moving heaven and earth to save sinners who could not lift a finger to save themselves. Grace is God’s Riches At Christ's Expense Grace is what someone else does to benefit you that you do not deserve.
We cannot, and will never be able to work for God’s grace. It ceases to be grace once work is demonstrated. “And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace:” – Rom 11:6
We do not deserve God’s grace. The Bible says to honor your father and mother. Your parents are deserving of honor by virtue of their position. This is not grace, it’s your duty, and their due. It’s your responsibility to honor them on the grounds that they are your parents. If a person merits the honor, then it is not grace but an obligation.
Grace is a benefit to the recipient! The Grace of God is a blessing that offers and brings salvation! “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men” – Titus 2:11
Grace is given only to those who do not deserve it. (Hint: That includes all of us!) (Rom 3:10).
The greatest example of grace in human history is found in the preaching of the cross, whereby Christ’s death, burial and resurrection accomplished the work we could not do for ourselves. It is to our eternal benefit that this grace is given.
God’s Grace is offered freely to everyone! Your only condition is that you are a sinner, who doesn’t deserve it, but believes in the finished work of the one that offers it. “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” (Rom 4:5)
Rom 3:23-26
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
Do you fit this criteria? If so, receive your gift of grace and salvation by the finished work done on your behalf at the cross of Jesus Christ.
Day 5: Flashbacks
Love,
I need you to be funny and honest and understanding. Haha. Lalo na pg may mga dramatics akong pinagdadaanan like me after I watched Bela Padilla's movie.
I need you to be strong and sensitive. I need you to be cuddly and funny esp. at times when I'm being a child and a girl at the same time.
I want you to be the kind of person who will make me see how pretty I am everyday kahit putangina ang panget ko at ang taba ko. And appreciate me for it.
Help me see my worth.
Make me realize that I am worthy if you.
Ayoko na umiyak every night because of pain. Ayoko na dumaan ng Adidas store and feel the urge to cry.
Make me laugh again please. Yung kind ng laugh na galing sa puso. Yung sobrang sarap maiiyak ako kasi ngayon ko lang uli naexperience maging masaya. Yung totoo.
Sana may sense kang kausap. Yung may laman at hindi puro yabang. I want to feel smart without feeling dumb. If that makes sense. Make me learn new things. Paduguin mo ilong ko with knowledge. Help me save. Let us save together for our family.
Let's live abroad. Far away from here.
Make me feel I belong.
Make me feel alive.
N I Miss You
Dark Times
No place I'd rather be.
I loveyou. Happy 6th!
"If I have to fight for your attention, I dont want any of it." Chos lang. What I really mean is -sana ako pa rin. Ako na lang. Ako na lang ulit!
