Work was slow today and I took the time to practice drawing knotwork by designing a sword.
I still don’t consider myself to be really all that good at knotwork, but it’s something I want to practice and get better at.
I plan on drawing this in more detail later and adding some color digitally.
This sword is named “Guðblað”—a combination of the Icelandic words “Guð”, meaning “God”, and “blað”, meaning “blade”—and is inspired by the netherite sword I use in my minecraft world. I really like the idea of this fantastical legendary sword made from layers of materials—wood, diamonds, gold, and dark steel—and really want to play with those colors on a design.
