Goddess Skandamata is the fifth form of Navadurga, revered during Navratri. She is known for her divine nurturing nature as she holds her son, Lord Skanda (Kartikeya), in her lap. Her name combines "Skanda" (her son) and "mata" (mother), signifying her role as the mother of a powerful god. She rides a lion and has four arms; she holds a lotus in two hands, the other hand cradles Lord Skanda, and her fourth hand remains in a protective posture. Worshiping her is said to grant wisdom, courage, and tranquility. Devotees also believe she helps overcome fears and brings prosperity.
