Father John Misty - God's Favorite Customer 8.2/10 J. Tillman is back with another great record. I remember just last year I listened to Pure Comedy and was imminently hooked to it's beauty (will be reviewing that soon). I patiently waited for him to release another record but kind of forgot about him until I saw this show up in the preorder area of google play. Listening to it now it doesn't seem too wildly different then Pure Comedy but it does give me this vibe of being in a lonely bar drinking alone watching Mr. Tillman perform his heart out on the small stage at 2 am. The production is top-notch and the song writing is just as introspective as always. I think the easiest way to talk about this album however is to name off its pros and cons. Pros: It's shorter then Pure Comedy and it's easy to get through in one sitting. It's also consistently good, and I like the vibe it gives off. Cons: Not really any stand out tracks which kills its replayability (its biggest crutch imo). The mixing of the percussion on Date Night really bothers me, it's the only track where they appear on the right ear instead of the left and it throws the album and its vibe off for some reason to me. Favorite Track - The Songwriter Least Favorite - Date Night (only for the mixing) #fatherjohnmisty #godsfavoritecustomer #review #music #alturnative #indie #folk #album https://www.instagram.com/p/Bjh_UFSAXTU/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=19vmiyjcqbhme
