“Here’s the one thing I crave from God, the one thing I seek above all else: I want the privilege of living with him every moment in his house, finding the sweet loveliness of his face, filled with awe, delighting in his glory and grace. I want to live my life so close to him that he takes pleasure in my every prayer. In his shelter in the day of trouble, that’s where you’ll find me, for he hides me there in his holiness. He has smuggled me into his secret place, where I’m kept safe and secure— out of reach from all my enemies. Triumphant now, I’ll bring him my offerings of praise, singing and shouting with ecstatic joy! Yes, listen and you can hear the fanfare of my shouts of praise to the Lord!” Psalm 27:4-6 (TPT)
David honored and prayed to God all his life, but spending time with God was what he wanted above everything. He was hungry for more of God and said, “I ask only one thing from the Lord. This is what I want most: Let me live in the Lord’s house all my life, enjoying the Lord’s beauty and spending time in His palace.” (Ps 27:4 ERV) David was far from being perfect - he committed a lot of sins - but he loved God more than anything, obeyed Him willingly and sought His wisdom. David humbled himself and deeply repented when he sinned; and God forgave him and gave him favor! God called David “A man after My own heart.” Friend, if we could pray, from the heart, “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple” (Ps 27:4 NIV) our Heavenly Father would surely look down on us with joy and say “My precious one, you are a child after My own heart.” Oh, how wonderful that would be! Amen! 🙌🙌🙌
