Intergalactic space dinosaur war? Yes please!
In an animation style matching the space opera manga of the 70s.
Since you can’t get funding for a whole show, make it like the “rediscovered episodes” of a lost anime, so the scenes with the non-kaiju is somewhat bizarre and out of context, and between episodes you feel like you missed a lot. Characters switching sides offscreen for the finale and the like.
Perhaps even have many of same species on both sides of the conflict. This is how war looks like from the outside: nonsensical, pointless violence.
Gigan is the viewpoint character from the monsters point of view of his side of the conflict. We see them get less bestial and more cunning over time,a reoccuring “villain”. More scared of pain.
Possible ending. The series with Gigan drifting aimlessly, until they come to a planet full of garbage, a perfect place to lie low and rest. We see the shadows of giant roaches coming to investigate and it fades to black.
Or: a scene similar to Final Wars, found by archaeologists on another planet, only to be killed by their compatriots turning out to be spaceroaches in diguise

This turned out based on a mistranslation
I am sad to say that the dinosaur war was a mistranslation on my part
獣 and 戦 are very similar characters, and getting them mixed up changes it from Daikaiju to Great War
So while Gigan is a space dinosaur that has been biomechanically altered they aren’t really a war veteran.
