The Goffs Schoolhouse located in Goffs, #California, along an original alignment of Route 66. Opened in 1914, the one-room Mission Revival style #schoolhouse was designed by architect Anthony Beimer. Most of its students were the children of the area's miners and railroad workers. Goffs residents also used the school building as a community center, and it housed a branch of the San Bernardino County Library. The #school closed in 1937, when the Goffs School District merged with the Needles district. During World War II, the school building served as a canteen for the Desert Training Center, the largest Army training facility in the United States. The school was restored and today the Mojave Desert Heritage and Cultural Association uses it as a museum and cultural center. It was added to the @nationalregisternps in 2011. #ca #cahistory #mojavedesert #mojave #history #ushistory #americanhistory #travelblog #travelblogger #explore #blog #blogger #beautiful #desert #exploreca #adventureca #goffs #goffsca #nrhp #route66 #missionrevival #route66official #motherroad (at Goffs Schoolhouse)
