boys…
his palms are clammy, ringed fingers clenching and unclenching as he waits by the entrance to the park. his heart is hammering in his chest, a steady drum drum drum that makes it difficult to concentrate, and he scolds himself for being ridiculous — taichi isn’t even here yet. he has at least five minutes to compose himself, to rehearse the words he’s gone over at least a hundred times by now, to find the right cadence and way he wants to say the words that have been trapped within him since they were children, in one form or another.
even the location isn’t random, the park an old favourite of theirs, open enough to allow freedom but with spaces private enough where they can hold a conversation without being overheard. considering how he assumes this conversation is going to go, he thinks taichi will appreciate the thought. he can run away as fast as he likes, when the time comes, and no one will be any the wiser. no one will know yamato had just blown a hole in their friendship that won’t be so easy to heal.
he casts his gaze to the left, towards taichi’s home, studying the path and the faces coming towards him, none the one he wants. he vaguely wonders if taichi was surprised by the invitation to hang out, considering yamato’s been hiding in france for the last six months and has been elusive since coming back; his lost connection to the digital world not taken as gracefully as his best friend had done. still, the loss of gabumon and the soul-searching done in france had left him with only a single road left to tread, and well… here he is.
the familiar figure comes into view and yamato feels his heart flip in his chest, leaving his chest feeling tight and himself a little breathless. it’s certain, taichi yagami is going to kill him. one way or another, he’ll be the end of him. but he tries to hide it from his features, pastes a smile there instead and raises a hand to wave, praying it doesn’t shake. damn it all, so many girls liked him because they thought he was cool and aloof — it’s the first time he wishes that were somewhat true.
" taichi, " he says by way of greeting, his thumb twisting the ring on another finger as he lowers his hand. " you’re on time, i’m impressed. "

"Takeru and I are simply friends, y'know that's a possibility even when two people are extremely close right? You don't have to start sucking face just because you're obsessed with each other."
She was known as the sweet one, not the quiet one.
"You guys ever wonder if men are okay?"
She doesn't think they are okay.
Fun-sized... How cute!
i would like some new friends, please. some where there’s no unresolved tension.
i don’t think i want to be a mom anymore.
Please don't look at me like that. [ for hikari ]
There's a light missing within warm amber, a fog cloaking what once would shine through the darkest of times. Exhaustion is present in the heavy rings that hang from her eyes. She can't remember when was the last time she had truly slept with no visitors.
How long ago had her peace abandoned her?
"I'm sorry, I didn't come here to worry you, Mom asked me to stop by and give you some of the stuff you left behind during dinner.
She wants to know when you're coming back."
That's all she ever did wasn't it? Worry him for no reason, burden him with her uselessness.
Is that why he moved away?
