while I am a fan of geto with his manga canon purple eyes, his brown eyes in the anime does something to me and it’s just. so much more fitting for his character imo. not just because brown to me means warmth, hot chocolate, coffee, brown animals (dogs, bears, cows, deer, etc.), earth (can be interpreted a few ways like soil, trees, growth, stability, reliability, dependability), and more etc., but also because of the beauty of gold flecks in geto’s irises. gold is fragility and rarity and divinity and prosperity all at once. ancient and alchemical, as though midas’s curse found new purpose in the golden streaks swirling in his deep brown irises. as if something divine cracked open inside of geto’s eyes and began to bleed light. gold, the same hue that must live behind the eyes of angels before they fall from grace. the gold of creation itself, too pure, too dazzlingly eternal for normal eyes to gaze upon. ach.
