Gold and white markers, ink pens, gel pens and watercolour pens on brown paper.

This was the last drawing, or more like doodle, I made before the surgery, for my bestie and awesome artist @the--nightcrawler when we were so lucky to meet twice in two cities here in Andalucía in less than a week 💜✨

Ahoy hoy~ Here's something more or less new from my "sketchbook". Birdman OC Tequila, to be exact :D Even though he only had like 1 panel in the Deathblight Demon Hunters comic, I felt like drawing him, haha ^ ^ Didn't have the flat background colour as a marker, so that one is added digitally, but anything else is drawn on paper :3 Hope you like it! P.S. "Sketchbook" in quotation marks, because most of the art in there isn't even sketches anymore xD A few are, but most stuff in there is cleaned up stuff, haha ^ ^ Also it's almost full. First time using the new watercolours from W&N I bought for a full piece. Also. On proper cotton paper, which indeed does make a difference in what you can do with the colours and flow. Been a bit of a hot minute since I drew myself but I make progress in getting things back in order that fell to the wayside in the last few years, and I do feel more and more like myself lately so... here we are.

I used a flat bladed brush it kinda has an angle, gives good control on flow idk how to describe it, dabbing that one on the paper while doing the halo and the background did allow me to build up pigment nicely. I once.. did a piece with Tangeris in it that looked so lovely when wet and then sadly lost some of that vibrancy when it dried so I had to go in a couple of times (and letting it dry in between) to build that back up but I was unable to get the same level mainly because 1. paper could not take more & 2. that one was done with inks and back then I was still learning how to balance them cuz they are already died liquid and there is a huge difference between drawing inks (which I rarely use) and writing inks (who need to be a kind of way that they do not clog up an ink pen) and I used both in that old piece and that was a mistake at the time XD.

Ah but i learned and its kinda nice that even tho watercolours are a different ballpark in a way than inks that those skills with the inks i got are very much transferable.

Just gonna need to push myself into a bit more loose techniques now. Love the controlled way I do things but I wanna let go a little too. Also need a heatgun, screw waiting for shit to dry my brain cannot handle it. Also fun fact, I do not own warm grey in my palette of watercolours. i had to mix em up for Tangeris fur and if you do not know how to mix up warm grey it's like... take this burnt sienna and ultramarine blue. Or paynes grey and raw umber (which I did) maybe a lil yellow orchre. Too yellow of a tint? Mix in some lavender colour. Greenish tint? Some light pinks got you.

Anyway the shades I mixed up to colour him match my copics for him to a T (i use copics for my references bc its easier and less mixing involved) so I am very happy with the results.
