“Captain For a Day: The Wells Edition” - A Golden What If Story
If you ask any Golden Bro who they’d trust to lead the squad for a day, most would shrug and say, “Wells, obviously.” Not because he’s the most organized. Or the most strategic. Or the most, uh… rule-oriented.
But because Wells has that rare quality of making everyone around him feel like a champion.
So when Coach dropped the bombshell, “WELLS! You’re Captain today!”, the lounge erupted like someone had scored a last-second buzzer beater.
06:00 — Captain Wells’ First Decree:
Mandatory morning affirmations.
Every bro, half awake and wearing mismatched socks, stood in a sleepy circle as Wells marched in with a booming grin.
“ALRIGHT BOYS. REPEAT AFTER ME.”
“I shine bright!” The bros mumbled: “I shine bright…”
“I’m strong, I’m bold, and my coffee better be GOLD.”
“…my coffee… better be gold…”
Gabe snorted so hard he nearly snorted his protein shake.
11:00 — Wells’ Training Regimen:
Wells didn’t push the team harder. He pushed them smarter.
He made drills into games, teamwork sprints, relay lifts, balance challenges involving medicine balls and too much shouting.
Even Alton, usually quiet and composed, got caught yelling, “BRO I’M SHINING, I’M SHINING!” while trying not to fall off a stability board.
Wells just laughed: “That’s the spirit! If you don’t wipe out at least once, you’re not pushing your limits, bro!”
14:00 — The Captain’s Lunch Hour:
Wells bought lunch for the entire squad.
Not just any lunch. He walked into the cafeteria like a hero returning from war and yelled: “Poutine mountain for the table!”
Gabe nearly cried. Alton took pictures like a proud dad.
Even Coach looked impressed or horrified. Hard to tell.
18:00 — Wells’ Final Act as Captain:
Not about training. Not about performance. Just… feelings.
“Bros,” he said, standing with them in the locker room, “you good? Like, actually good?”
Everyone melted. Even the toughest bros start opening up around Wells, It’s a superpower.
“I just want you to know,” he finished, “you shine. With or without gear. With or without wins. You shine because you’re you.”
Gabe sniffled. Alton nodded. Someone in the back whispered, “Dang, Cap…”
Coach clapped Wells on the shoulder.
Wells beamed, not because he nailed everything perfectly,
but because he made everyone feel like they belonged.
And that, in the Golden Army, is what leadership really means.
