To whoever just bought me a coffee and donated! I don’t know how many of you will remember, but my goldfish had babies (was a surprise) and there were hundreds and hundreds of them (around 600 at one point). It’s really expensive to raise goldfish babies but morally I couldn’t just let them die. I’ve genuinely spent most of my saving on these little fishies, it’s cost me at least several hundred pounds to buy all the supplies and tanks. I’ve got a 300 litre (80 gallon) tank coming next week, and I will have another coming soon, and one of these 300L alone was a couple of hundred. The tanks they are currently in overall were around a couple of hundred too, but they need more space to grow healthily. This isn’t a pitty post at all. It is to say thanks to whoever donated, and partly to explain why the heck I’ve been SO quiet. I have to clean their tanks every other day, and it takes me around 3 hours each time. Not to mention, only 30% of goldfish fry survive to adulthood and they’re very susceptible to diseases. I spend a lot of time treating sick fish, or sadly having to bury / mourn ones that have passed.
SO, the point of this whole post tbh was to say that the donation I got earlier made me so happy - so whoever you are, thanks so much! And to explain why I’ve been quiet and apologise. But, the lives of these hundreds of little fishies comes first for me atm! I’m trying really hard to do as much as I can on the sidelines though!
Thanks to all my followers. I am making stuff, it’s just a slow process for me atm lmao. When the bigger tanks arrive I should be able to do less frequent water changes! And the older they get the less attention and care they need so I’ll have more free time.

It doesn’t make any sense, I didn’t put him there and he’s in my broken outside tank??? How did he get there???? I asked all my family and I thought my dad might have bought him as a stupid joke (cause that’s something I could see him doing) but he said he didn’t and he wouldn’t lie about that so the only other option is I accidentally bred my goldfish and somehow??? It’s egg managed to hitch a ride into this tank on the plants???????
He must have survived off the algae until he was big enough to be noticed. I’m just so confused guys??? I wasn’t planning on having anymore goldfish or awhile but now I have a surprise baby?????
HOW HAVE YOU LIVED THIS LONG!?!?!?!
Edit: Some people are suggesting he might have got dumped there by a stranger, I just want to let you know that that’d be impossible considering where I live. (On a property out in the country with 2-3 neighbours tops, just big old fields out here I’m afraid.)

The goldies spawned this morning!!
I’m not too sure how successful the spawn was/will be but I’m already seeing tiny black spots in the eggs and I have removed the obviously unfertilized eggs and made them a makeshift breeder box. There seems to be sand stuck to almost all of the eggs since they weren’t laid on a spawning mop (we weren’t anticipating breeding) and I’m not sure how that will affect their success. Overall there are about 150 eggs.
The potential fry will be the offspring of dante as shes our only female, and potentially all of the other males. However, we think that the fathers are mostly lia and paisley since they were displaying breeding behavior the past few days.
(Also there are some air bubbles on the bottom of the box that look like big unfertilized eggs if you were curious about that) Edit: none of the eggs hatched :(
My new 300 litre tank has arrived (we almost died trying to get that in there), now to fill it with my fish babies! I’ll post an update later :)
