Goodbye, Mercy

Gon listened with growing confusion to Parry-san’s conditions and limitations.  Soon enough the blue tree was dancing all around him and his mind slowed down pleasantly.  Before Gon had the chance to thank his little angel friend, or even thank him, he fell to the ground unconscious.  A week later, Gon’s eyes blinked open.

Tree.  Blue tree?  Ah yes. Parry-san.  So hungry.  The.. wish. He had granted it!  How long had it been??  Gon lifted a hand to his face and studied his skin.  He knew others who could tell by their palms the passage of time, but Gon didn’t know what to make of it.  He sat up and stretched.  How rested and peaceful he felt!

Gon poked at the fire and bit off the end of his candy cane.  The crunchy peppermint was very nice.  He glanced at the white-haired boy quickly. “Killua.  I just remembered!  I have to make a resolution for the New Year.  Hmmm.”  He frowned back at the hearth.  He needed to think.

First day at highschool.  Itchy gakuran.  He’d forgotten his lunch.  Gon swallowed and bowed low to his new class.   “You make take a seat now Gon-kun.”   A quick scan showed only one seat available.  He proceeded to sit, his chair squeaking loudly and weirdly.

“Looks like you’ve lost.  Don’t worry, I’m feeling nice today..”  Hisoka cooed as he laid a royal straight flush: ace high.   He knew exactly what he wanted and it was going to be simply perfect.  

Days later, Gon sighed happily to himself in front of a bubbling brook.  On Whale Island, things were pretty relaxing.  He missed having adventure, he missed Killua too.  But today.. things were ok.  He was taking a much needed break from studies and it was truly peaceful in the forest.  He missed that too.

Gon had used his full strength to beat that lady with the glasses in arm wrestling.  Leorio could see that his little bread winner needed a break and swapped him with Killua.  Gon had decided to follow the unusually strong female for a little while out of boredom and curiosity.   He saw them enter into a large building.  He could tell it was under heavy surveillance, and that made it all the more interesting.  Maybe he could find better ways to earn money to impress Leorio and Killua!   He found himself surrounded by many important looking men.  He’d accidentally found the underground auction.
