Don Nix "Gone Too Long" LP. Earlier this year I woke up with The Byrds' "I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better" in my head one morning. After listening to it on YouTube 3 or 4 times I fell down the rabbit hole of various covers and found this one. While I'm not a huge fan of the blue-eyed soul/Leon Russell style of rock Nix does so well, I really appreciated his cover of the song, so I grabbed a cheap copy off ebay to play every now and again. What I like about the rest of the album is that it's produced well, so it sounds great, Nix is good at what he does, and it isn't too long. I put this on this afternoon after the dog and I spent a good chunk of the day outside playing fetch on the hill our house is on. The poor girl exhausted herself and after she got up from her collapsed position (picture 2) I noticed her licking her rear paw and that it was bleeding. So we went in and I made a huge mess on the kitchen floor cleaning and inspecting all her muddy paws and then put antibacterial ointment on and bandaged her up and put a stocking over it all. Then we put this record on and relaxed for a bit. At this point we both needed to just stretch out and be. She spent the rest of the evening resting and hanging out with my wife. Around 11pm I found Nico in the hall and under the glow of the nightlight she had undressed her wound and was licking at it.
