tfw bkg could actually be seen as the weak one for giving in to societal views of quirkless ppl while izuku still tried his best to prove everyone wrong no matter how much they shoved him down . KATSUKI BEING PHSYICALLY STRONG AND PRAISED , YET WEAKER IN A MORE MENTAL ASPECT . . IZUKU BEING PHYSICALLY WEAK BUT MENTALLY STRONGER . I’M OUT . bkg having so many expectations shoved upon him by others but izuku was constantly pushed down and told his dreams were unattainable and that he wouldn’t amount to anything i’m so sad , the side by side comparison of izuku and katsuki despite literally growing up together hurts so bad . the fact they both got let down so badly by hero society . katsuki grew up being told that the strong are better than the weak and he needs to be the best and live up to everyone’s expections , and izuku grew up thinking he was worthless not only because of kacchans bullying but bc of how EVERYONE treated him .
they could’ve been such good friends if it hadn’t been for society literally pulling them apart because one is weak and one is strong . like. izuku and katsuki were shown hanging out just the two of them, before izuku was diagnosed quirkless. katsuki was a bit of an asshole (as most kids are) but they got along!! it’s mainly when katsuki’s other friends were around that he hurt izuku and mocked him more , he probably felt like he had to treat izuku like that in front of other people . imagine being peer pressured into bullying your best friend at age 5 . “even nowadays hes still more aggressive to izuku when around others rather than when its just them and im not good” (jordyn) WHEN THEYRE ALONE HE’S JUST. THE MOVIE, WHEN IIDA HAD TO STEP BETWEEN THEM . he got pissed bc izuku was on i-island and started threatening him , iida stood in front of izuku and izuku was hiding behind him 🥺 . honestly it’s been 12 years at this point he’s so used to treating izuku like shit when around other ppl bc izuku is weak and he’s strong tbag it’s just second nature at that point . when it’s just them he’s grumpy and moody but never physical . except for deku v kacchan 2 ofc .
kinda fucked up how katsuki thinks it’s normal to treat ppl weaker than him like that bc it was encouraged in school, but now he’s in high school and no one else is encouraging him like his old friends did and he’s just. Well . now izuku has all the praise and all the friends and bkg isn’t treated like gods gift to the earth anymore . that’s gonna be a SHOCK tbh , to go from how it was in middle school to high school . his whole personality in school before centred around being the best in the class and treating izuku like shit, always getting away with doing what he wants . and NOW WHAT? izuku is trailing behind him in grades and iida & momo are higher than him. the teachers don’t let him get away with shit he used to (like threatening izuku and standing on the desk in chapter 1) .
bkg has a tough first few days in hs because it’s not what he’s used to and now their roles have switched, izuku being the prodigy liked by everyone while bkg is given weird looks by their classmates. **attempts murder** . on some level tho his angry reaction is understandable, bc he would have seen it as some sort of attack on him bc his views of izuku are so flawed beyond repair . “ thinking abt it yeah that was probably the first time he violently lashed out when his emotions became too much to handle like in their second fight but on a cOMPLETELY DIFFERENT SCALE ” (jordyn) deku v kacchan 1 and 2 summaries: **kacchan feels an emotion and doesn’t know how to deal with it. takes it out on izuku** . their relationship is so fucked up there is so much co-dependency in these boys even if they don’t want to admit it. they literally wouldn’t know what to do with themselves if the other wasn’t there !! not to mention izuku still views kacchan through rose tinted glasses and admires him, he has such an unhealthy attachment going on . their dynamic is. so unhealthy for the both of them oh my godddddd
