something I noticed about the superman movie that's probably super dumb and everyone has already figured out was the power of the media. immediately after the message from superman's parents was displayed on the news and social media, the entire population of metropolis, who had seen superman as nothing but good and caring and helpful completely turned on him in a matter of seconds, after the news broke.
then we see the same exact thing at the end of the movie when the daily planet exposes lex luthors evil scheme. people who blindly loved and listened to the mega corporation found out how corrupt it was and did a full 180°. idk if it was intentional commentary on the drone like hive mind that social media has turned the general population into, or if it was merely a beat in the movie to keep the story progressing, but that's something I really noticed and resonated with. the power of the media and what news outlet you get your main source of information from can completely skew and dictate your opinion on a matter in seconds, if it's a news source you trust, even if the topic of conversation was something you would have defended with your whole chest. now that the media is trashing it, it's not worth supporting. this is what everyone else thinks so it must be right.
of course with the message from superman's parents, it was a miscommunication/misunderstanding, which is often a plot beat, and with the daily planets article it was the turning point to help the good guys win, which is also a plot beat. but this is my interpretation and I can do what I want with it. the power of the media can really dictate how the masses feel about something, even if that's not what they originally believed and supported.
