Best Served Cold spoilers abound
Posted a lot about parahumans so I just want to say that in Best Served Cold the protagonist's motivation, after a certain point, is "it would be really fucking awkward if I stopped in the middle" and I think thats the single greatest protagonist motivation ever. Every single Monza decision is accompanied by a sad trumpet. She's just murdering her away across the continent because she already started and it would be really awkward to stop now. She's super hyped for Gobba but even by Mauthis she's like "ugh, murder? The thing I said I was going to do? ok I guess" and by Orso she's just low-key hoping he kills her again and she won't need to do it anymore. I have never seen the self-motivated protagonist handled better, or revenge plots.
